Rams 'Round the World: Volleyball's Chryssabella Jones-Craig

Sophomore Chryssabella Jones-Craig has taken her talents overseas for the 2020 spring semester to study at Suffolk's Madrid campus. While stamping her academic passport, Jones-Craig will check in with GoSuffolkRams.com from time-to-time to tell Ram Nation what she has been up to abroad.

Below is the first installment, when Jones-Craig arrived abroad.

Senior year of high school, I visited Madrid for the first time and fell in love with it. I visited again the following year with Suffolk as a part of the Global Gateway program and it was then my want for studying abroad at the Madrid campus was intensified.

Now that I've begun and finished the process of making it to Madrid for a semester, I'm incredibly excited to expand on my Spanish speaking abilities not by simply staying in a Spanish speaking country, but also living with a host-family and participating in Spanish conversation every day.

The journey to get here was an interesting one indeed, from figuring out how to pack five months of my life into one suitcase to understanding exchange rates and financing my semester, it wasn't easy! Despite the lengthy process, now that I am here it is more than worth it.

This semester, I am eager to explore the city of Madrid, the beautiful regions of Spain, and the historic countries of Europe. Here with my friends, we've made plans to travel the continent and experience new things. I am beyond lucky for an opportunity at such an enriching educational experience while still maintaining the track to get my degree on time. I'm afraid I won't want to go home when the time comes!
