Brian Smith Named Assistant Men's and Women's Cross-Country Coach

The Suffolk University Athletics Department announced that Brian Smith has been named Assistant Coach for the Men’s and Women’s Cross-Country teams for the 2011 season.

Smith will assist Head Coach Karen McKetchnie, who is entering her second season at the helm of the men’s and women’s distance runners for the Rams.

Smith currently works at Suffolk University as an office assistant at the institution’s writing center where he oversees one-on-one tutoring for students who are in need of assistance with their writing skills. Smith has been at that position since 2009. Previously Smith worked at the Harvard University Medical School where he served as an administrative assistant to Dean David Cordozo providing support for the Associate Dean of Graduate Studies, Vice Chair and Director in the Division of Medical Studies.

From 2004-2006 Smith also served as a Peace Corps Volunteer at Izmail State University in the Ukraine. There Smith helped develop audio and video media for professors and instructed second and third year students in practical English conference and US country studies.

Smith currently resides in Medford.

The Suffolk University Cross-Country teams will compete eight meets during the Fall Season of 2011. They open up on September 10 at the Travis J. Fuller Invitational hosted by Mass. Maritime Academy.
