Jack DeJesus Named GNAC Goalkeeper of the Week

Boston, MA - Suffolk University Men's Soccer junior Jack DeJesus (Swampscott, MA) was named GNAC goalkeeper of the week after posting his first shutout of the season in Suffolk's 2-0 victory over St. Joseph's College (Me.) on Saturday. DeJesus made five saves in the win lowering his season's goals against average to 1.01. The Rams are now 4-1-2 overall, and currently stand in third place in the GNAC with a 1-0-2 record.

Senior Nick Celia (Hanson, MA) also earned recognition from the GNAC for Men's Soccer being named to the Weekly Honor Roll. Celia scored Suffolk's first goal in their 2-0 victory over the Monks on Saturday.  Celia's goal came just ten minutes into the contest as he connected on a header for what turned out to be the game-winner. It was his first game-winning goal of the season.

Suffolk Women's Soccer sophomore Leslie Hayden (Ross, CA) was named to the GNAC Weekly Honor Roll for the third time this season. Hayden scored her fourth career hat trick in Tuesday's 6-4 loss to Emmanuel College and then added another goal on Saturday in a 2-1 overtime loss to St. Joseph (Ct.) College. In 21 career games, Hayden has now scored 26 goals.

Suffolk Women's Tennis continued their strong start to the 2009 season. Sophomore Lauren Cameron (Kingston, Jamaica) was named to the GNAC Weekly Honor Roll once again as she was a combined 4-0 on the week. Cameron was 2-0 in singles play, earning her first victory in the first position for the Rams on Saturday in an 8-1 victory over St. Joseph (Ct.) College. In six sets this season, Cameron has won all of them by a 6-0 score. Sophomore Kelly Conrad (Lanstahl, Germany) was also named to the GNAC Weekly Honor Roll. Conrad who was named GNAC Rookie of the Week on September 7, was 3-1 combined on the week. Conrad's victory in the five position on Tuesday turned out to be the match clincher as the Rams topped Emerson College, 5-4.

Senior Kelsey Armstrong-Hann (Corvallis, OR) of Women's Volleyball was named to the GNAC Weekly Honor Roll for the second consecutive week. Armstong-Hann had 24 kills in four games on the week, including a season-high 12 in Suffolk's 3-1 victory over Eastern Nazarene College on Thursday. She also led the Rams with 20 digs on the week.
