John Blazo Named GNAC Rookie of the Week

Freshman John Blazo (Pembroke, MA) was named GNAC Rookie of the Week as he was the Rams top finisher in the Daniel Webster Invitational on Friday for Men's Cross-Country. Blazo finished the race with a time of 31:47 as Suffolk's men finished in second place at the meet. It was the second consecutive week that Blazo has been the Rams' top finisher.

Suffolk Men's Soccer continued their fast start to the 2009 season as the Rams went 1-0-2 on the week to push their overall season record to 3-0-2. Junior goalkeeper Jack DeJesus (Swampscott, MA) earned GNAC Weekly Honor Roll honors for his efforts as he posted a shutout in Monday's 8-0 victory over Wheelock College. DeJesus also made 19 saves combined in the two Rams' two draws over the week in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) play. DeJesus pushed aside 9 shots in Thursday's 1-1 tie with Lasell College and made 10 saves in Saturday's 1-1 tie with Norwich. DeJesus finished the week with a .905 save percentage, and 0.68 goals against average in 265:00 minutes of play over the three contests.

Senior Arman Palian (Belmont, MA) also earned GNAC Weekly Honor Roll honors as he posted his first multi-goal game of the season, scoring two goals and adding two assists in the Suffolk's 8-0 victory on Monday over Wheelock College.

Sophomore Lauren Cameron (Kingston, Jamaica) continued her dominance on the tennis court as she was named to the GNAC Weekly Honor Roll. Cameron was named GNAC Player of the Week earlier this season on September 7, and is the defending GNAC Rookie of the Year for Women's Tennis. Cameron was victorious in singles play on Tuesday winning her sets 6-0, 6-0 in the number two position for the Rams, and was victorious in doubles play as she partnered with junior Alexandra Hernadez-Vallant in the first doubles spot. The Rams fell to Bridgewater State College 7-2, with Cameron earning both victories for Suffolk.
