Four seniors from Suffolk University’s Basketball program
earned end of the season recognition from the Great Northeast
Athletic Conference. Women’s Basketball had two players earn
award. Senior forward Meghan Tracey
(Rehoboth, MA)was named to the GNAC All-Conference second team, and
senior forward Emily
Duquette (Harrisville, RI)was named to the
GNAC’s Sportsmanship team. Senior forward and captain Brian
Small (Stoughton, MA) was named to the GNAC
All-Conference third team for Men’s Basketball, and senior
guard Kevin
Blake was named to the GNAC’s Sportsmanship
team.
Tracey finishes her career with a 7.9 points per game average and
7.0 rebounds per game. In her senior campaign, Tracey lead the Rams
with 10.2 boards per game and was second in scoring with 11.4
points per game. Named to the GNAC Weekly Honor Roll for the week
of February 3rd, Tracey recorded 12 double-doubles on the season.
Her 10.2 rebounds per game was 5th best on the season within the
GNAC, while she was also 5th in offensive rebounds (3.6) and
defensive rebounds (6.4). Tracey was also the Rams best player
within conference games averaging 13.1 points per game against GNAC
opponents.
Duquette was one of three senior captains for the Rams in 2008-09.
Starting in all 26 games during the season, Emily averaged 6.3
points per game and a team best 2.6 assists per game. Emily also
served on Suffolk University’s Student Athlete Advisory
Council (SAAC).
Small finished the season ninth all time in program history at
Suffolk with 1,383 career points. During the 2008-09 season, Small
led the Rams with a 17.3 points per game average and 9.0 rebounds
per game, assists at 2.8 and field goal percentage .486. Small was
named "GNAC Player of the Week "on February 1st of this past
season, and has been named to the GNAC Weekly Honor Roll on four
other occasions. He currently stands in the top ten in several
categories within the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC);
5th in scoring, 3rd in rebounding, 9th in assists and 6th with 1.3
blocked shots per game. Small was also named to ESPN the
Magazine’s Academic All-America second team by the College
Sports Information Directors of America.
Blake finished up his four year career with the Rams. Recognized by
his coaches for his dedication and commitment to the program, Kevin
has earned the respect of his teammates for his leadership skills
and has also been a mentor for his younger teammates throughout the
season. Blake appeared in 11 games for the Rams off the bench
averaging 2.2 points a game this past season. Over the past three
years, Kevin has also worked in Suffolk’s Admission Office
serving as an Ambassador welcoming prospective students and taking
them on tours throughout Suffolk’s Beacon Hill campus.
