There are a thousand reasons why Chris Tsiotos will always have a special place in the record books of Suffolk University’s men’s basketball. Look back to all the players who have ever put on the Rams’ uniform—individuals both short and tall, and from all over the world—and Tsiotos stands out in one impressive category above all the rest. He is the only player in Suffolk history to score both 1,000 points (1,639, fourth on the University’s all-time scoring list) and grab 1,000 rebounds (1,016).

Tsiotos, a 6-foot-5-inch center, was known for his consistently hard-working and durable play at both ends of the court. A two-time Division III All New England selection, he helped to lead the Rams to three consecutive NCAA tournament appearances (1975–77).

It didn’t take long for Tsiotos to display his basketball skills at Suffolk. As a freshman, he averaged 22.2 points and 14.6 rebounds per game. He was also ranked the eighth best rebounder in the nation in Division III, and broke the Rams’ record at the time for most rebounds in a game with 28 (a road win against Massachusetts Maritime Academy).

Tsiotos played alongside his younger brother, Nick, for two seasons at Suffolk. Nick, a versatile shooting guard, and Chris combined to form a highly productive tandem for the Rams. Chris and Nick played pro ball in Greece following their playing days at Suffolk. A graduate of Suffolk University and Suffolk University Law School, Tsiotos is known more today for his work in a court than on a court. He is an established lawyer on the North Shore of Boston, practicing his craft in penny loafers instead of sneakers.

In 1977, Tsiotos proudly received the Charles Law Outstanding Student-Athlete Award, a tribute to his athletic and academic excellence. He is also a member of the Winthrop High School Athletic Hall of Fame.
