Over 50 Rams Receive Stoles at Inaugural Ceremony

BOSTON – Suffolk University Athletics honored 50-plus expected graduating student-athletes with a special stole ceremony Friday afternoon at the Keches Room in Sargent Hall.

The Athletic Department handed out white, blue-and-gold stoles that will be used to signify student-athletes at Suffolk University's upcoming commencement ceremonies, where at least one member of all 19 Rams' varsity sports programs will earn their degrees.

During the hour-long program, where each student-athlete was robed with their student-athlete stole by a head coach, members of the audience were addressed by Suffolk University Associate Director of Athletics Adam Skaggs as will Suffolk University President Marisa J. Kelly, Suffolk University Hall of Famer and Board of Trustee member Larry Smith, BSBA '65, and Jasmine James, captain of the women's volleyball team.

On top of the stole presentation, Suffolk University held a special commencement ceremony for the graduating members of the Suffolk women's golf team that will miss commencement due to the NCAA Championships in Nicholasville, Kentucky. Sophie Kiley and Ellie Yarbrough received their degrees from Faculty Athletic Representative, Associate Provost of Academic Affairs Dr. Gary Fireman

The tradition of presenting Suffolk student-athlete graduates with graduation stoles at a special reception will become an annual tradition. The graduation stoles are provided to student-athletes, who complete their degrees as rostered student-athletes, including grad students and fifth-year students, or who have exhausted their athletic eligibility as a Ram and earn their degree, undergraduate or postgraduate, at Suffolk University.
