150 Rams Secure Spot on Fall 2016 Athletic Director’s Honor Roll

BOSTON – The Suffolk University Athletics Department is proud to announce that 150 of its student-athletes achieved a spot on the Athletic Director's Honor Roll for the 2016 Fall Semester.

To earn a spot on the AD's honor roll a student-athlete must earn a grade-point average of at least 3.0 and pass at least 12 quarter units.

The 204 student-athletes enrolled in full-time classes this fall representing the University's 14 varsity intercollegiate teams combined for a 3.25 overall GPA with 86 student-athletes earning a spent on the Dean's List (3.5 GPA or higher).

"As our student-athlete population grows with the addition of new varsity sports I'm proud to say that our student-athlete's classroom success continues to excel," said Director of Athletics Cary McConnell. "With 73.5 percent of the Rams' student-athlete population achieving a place on the AD honor roll, a number that is the highest since the recognition's inception in 2012, shows that academia does not take a backseat to athletics. Our student-athletes continue to exhibit the skills necessary to make them well-rounded individuals, which correlates into the department's goal of bolstering a foundation of our student-athletes to be as successful as they can be in all areas of life. This accomplishment is a direct reflection of their commitment to excel and an achievement our coaches, staff and the University can be proud of."

Off the 150 Rams' on the Honor Roll nine achieved a perfect 4.0 GPA; Bryan Etter (Hockey), Marissa Gudauskas (Women's Basketball), Brooke Heatcho (Women's Soccer), Jackson Hines (Men's Soccer), Taylor Holmes (Softball), Austin Lackey (Hockey), Danyil Medvedev (Hockey), Alexandra Nagri (Women's Basketball& Soccer) and Gena Restiano (Women's Basketball & Golf).

Jaclyn Davis' softball team put together the highest team GPA for the semester with a 3.603 thanks to 17 of its 20 student-athletes earning a spot on the AD Honor Roll, 16 of which placed high enough for a spot on the Dean's List.

In its first varsity season, women's golf saw all four of its student-athletes on the Director's Honor Roll for the highest percentage of their members on the list followed by women's cross country (8 - 87.5%), men's tennis (85.7), softball (20 - 85%) and men's golf (12 - 84.6). Hockey (31) came next with 80.6 percent of its athletes, followed by women's basketball (15) with 80 percent. Next in succession was baseball (28 - 71.4%), women's tennis (10 - 70%), women's soccer (23 - 65.2%), men's cross country (6 - 66.7%), men's basketball (15 - 60%), volleyball (13 - 57.1%) and men's soccer (28 - 39.3%).
