BOSTON – From 1999-2002 Adam Pellerin '02 was a fixture behind the backstop for Suffolk's baseball program. He has since taken his talents from playing on the diamond to reporting on the sport he competed in for years and many others. Now is Ram Nation’s chance to visit with the Rams' 2002 captain, all-league first-team selection, two-time GNAC Champion and NCAA Tournament participant, who caught up with GoSuffolkRams.com for a Q&A.
Since Suffolk, you’ve moved into the work field. Could you describe your current occupation, what company you work for and the role you have?
I’m a host/reporter at NESN. I host a number of different shows including our NEWS Programs, Red Sox pre- and post-game coverage, Bruins programming, and college hockey.
How did you land your job?
After spending five years as a news reporter/anchor at Boston 25, I wanted to transition to covering sports. I auditioned at NESN, and have been here since 2012.
Is this your dream job?
Being a Norton, Massachusetts native covering the teams I grew up watching? Ummm … yeah it is!
Describe your typical work day.
My work day starts before I go into the office. I keep up on the top stories throughout the day, listen to sports talk radio, and monitor twitter. When I get into the office, we discuss the top stories of the day, and plan our shows.
What’s the most surprising part of your job?
No big surprises - just a lot of fun!
What’s the biggest perk of your job?
Reporting for work at Fenway Park!
What are you most proud of?
Being a part of the WEEI/NESN Jimmy Fund Radio telethon.
What is your favorite memory at work?
Being on the field after the Red Sox won the World Series in 2013.
How did Suffolk prepare you for your role?
Learning how to balance a full class schedule, baseball, and work study always kept me on my toes.
What’s your favorite Suffolk memory?
Coming back to beat Trinity at the 2000 NCAA tournament.
What advice do you have for current students?
Networking is vital. Meet as many people as you can during internships, and don’t be afraid to ask for contact information.
What made you choose Suffolk?
I love Boston, and had the opportunity to play baseball and study in a great communications program. It was a no brainer.
Outside of work, what is your life like? I.E. family, kids, what do you do for fun, etc?
I have a beautiful wife and daughter, and we love our dog Sheila!
