I can’t thank Suffolk Athletics enough for giving me the opportunity to become a college athlete. I am so lucky to have been a part of something so special. Looking back, I won’t always remember the wins and the losses, but I will never forget my teammates. No matter the numerous changes in coaching, the injuries, or any other challenges we faced, my teammates were always there for me. My teammates, both past and present, are what made my Suffolk experience so unforgettable. I want to take a few moments to thank them for all that they have done for me.

To My Past Teammates: Thanks for being my first friends at Suffolk and showing me the ropes. Thanks for creating “Mo” on the first day of freshman try outs. Thanks for sticking together, when the team hit obstacles and everything seemed like it was falling apart. Thanks for bringing me pancakes and visiting me when I had my first concussion. Thanks for becoming some of my best friends, and still being a part of my life, even after you graduated. Even though your time as a Ram has come and gone, you will always be a part of my memories of Suffolk volleyball.

To My Current Teammates: Thanks for making my senior year one I will never forget. To be honest, I wasn’t sure how it was going to go, being the only senior with all freshman and sophomores, but looking back on our season, I would not have had it any other way. You are some of the most gifted athletes that Suffolk volleyball has ever seen and I know you will only get better and better. Thank you for always being there to brighten my day, even when I was sidelined with injuries. You are a special group of girls and I can’t wait to see what you will accomplish in the future.

To Future Rams: You are in great hands. I can promise you that you will work harder than you have ever imagined, but will do things that you never thought you were capable of. By choosing to play volleyball at Suffolk, you not only gained 12 new teammates, but gained 12 lifelong friends, who will stand by you through the wins and the loses, the ups and the downs, and anything that comes your way. Not only a new coach, but a second mom, who will always go to bat for you and even bring you care packages when you are sick. Always remember that you will never be alone, and although you may be far from you own family, you now are a part of the Suffolk family.

Although my experience has been anything but ordinary, I would not trade it for the world. Thanks to Suffolk University, the Suffolk Athletics department and my teammates for helping me grow into the athlete and person that I am today. I will always be a Ram no matter where I go in life and wish future Rams all the best. I hope they can use the building blocks that past teammates and I have set for them to show Boston and the GNAC what Suffolk volleyball is all about!

Best of Luck,
Caitlyn “Mo” Mockler
