    Brady Chant and the Suffolk baseball team continue to receive honors for their outstanding 2017 season. The Rams were named the NCAA statistical champion in triples and triples per game led by the nation’s individual leader in the same categories, rising senior Chant.

    Suffolk baseball assistant coach and Suffolk alum Jhonneris Mendez, who is in his first season as the Manager of the Seacoast Mavericks apart of the Futures Collegiate Baseball League (FCBL), has been named an assistant coach for the upcoming FCBL games versus Team USA’s Collegiate National Team, FCBL Commissioner Chris Hall announced this week.

    Suffolk baseball seniors Matt Brenner and Chuck Gibson took the field in their Suffolk baseball uniforms one last time as the senior duo represented the Rams on the College Division (Division II/III) team at the 2017 Joe Walsh new England Intercollegiate Baseball Association (NEIBA) All-Star Game. The co-captains helped their squad rally for a 3-3 tie against the University Division (Division I) team with a late eighth inning run at McCoy Stadium Friday afternoon.

The sixth–seeded Rams are now set for a Friday, May 19 tilt versus second–seed, #25/RV Arcadia under the lights at Whitehouse Field. at 8 p.m.

    Sixth-seeded Suffolk baseball outlasted second-seed, #25/RV Arcadia in a classic pitchers dual. Ryan Pordes and the Knights’ Jake Lloyd matched zeros for 9.0 full frames before the Rams walked-off in the 11th inning against a drawn in five-man infield to advance in the NCAA New England Regionals in a contest that opened on Friday and ended in the early hours of Saturday.

    With its third straight and seventh overall trip to the NCAA Championship on the calendar, Suffolk baseball will use non-conference contests at Bates and Worcester State to gear up for the Big Dance. The Rams trek to the Bobcats Thursday, May 11 for a twin bill that starts at 2 p.m., before heading to the Lancers Friday, May 12 for nine innings with a 12 p.m. start.
