Women’s Cross Country Threepeats as CCC Champions

WENHAM, Mass. – Suffolk women's cross country took care of business at the 2023 Commonwealth Coast Conference Championships, as the Rams won their third consecutive conference crown. 

Suffolk became only the third team to win three or more CCC Championships in a row, first since the University of New England (2012-18). Roger Williams has the conference record for most titles in a row with 11 from 2000 through 2010. 

The Rams ran to first with 44 points in the 6k race at Gordon Saturday afternoon to top the seven-team field en route to their third CCC title in as many seasons competing on the league's championship course.  

The blue-and-gold edged out Endicott, who sits 10th in the East region, with the Gulls just five points behind the Rams. Roger Williams completed the top three teams with 75 points. 

RAMS RUNNERS

  • Ellie Davis led the 11 Ram on the 6k course on the North Shore. The graduate student compiled not only a personal-best, but a program-record at the CCC Championships, of 22:58.6 to claim third in the 71-runner field. 
  • Sarah Roberts secured seventh as the senior came through the finisher's chute in 23:54.2. 
  • Sydney Fogg logged a 24:01.5 to claim 10th. 
  • Amy Pattelena was one spot behind Suffolk's senior captain in 11th thanks to her time of 24:05.6. 
  • Junior Emily Concepcion clocked a 24:23.0, good for 13th. 
  • Freshmen Malory Taylor (27:07.5) and Bailey Ford (27:16.3) were separated by one run. The former finished 39th with the latter in 41st to round out Suffolk's top-seven. 

ALL-CCC

  • Fogg took home her third consecutive all-conference accolade. She is now the first Ram to earn three all-league nods since Emily Manfra earned her third in 2019. Overall, Fogg is the third-ever Suffolk student-athlete to have three all-conference awards alongisde Manfra and Emma Weisse. The trio is a three-way tie for a program-record all-conference awards. 
  • Davis, Pattelena and Roberts all earned All-CCC for the second time in their collegiate careers and in as many years. 
  • Concepcion collected All-CCC for the first time. 

RAMS RECORDS

  • Davis, Roberts, Fogg, Concepcion and Daisey Jones (31:11.3) all produced personal-best on the championship course. 
  • Concepcion, Taylor, Janelle Bryant (30:06.3), Maria Gallant (30:47.1) and Jones all competed at the CCC Championships for the first time. 
  • Ford made her collegiate debut at the meet.  

NOTEWORTHY

  • Suffolk captured its third conference championship, all of which have come in the CCC. 
  • The Rams have never not won a CCC Championship. 
  • Suffolk became only the third team to win three or more CCC Championships in a row, first since the University of New England (2012-18). Roger Williams has the conference record for most titles in a row with 11 from 2000 through 2010. 
  • The five all-league honors tie for second in the Rams record book for the most all-conference distinctions in a single season sitting behind last season's six selections. 
  • Davis' third-place performance ties a Rams individual record for best performance place wise by a Suffolk student-athlete at the CCC Championships, tying Katelynn Brunt's third-place showing a year ago. 
  • Time wise, Davis' 22:58.6 is a Rams record at the CCC Championship. 
  • Four of Suffolk's seven top runners produced personal-best.

Suffolk preps for the 2023 NCAA East Regionals, which the Rams will host at Franklin Park Saturday, Nov. 11.
