Volleyball Downs Western New England in Four

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – Suffolk volleyball remained unbeaten in Commonwealth Coast Conference action as the Rams powered past Western New England, 3-1, Wednesday night at the Alumni Healthful Living Center. The four-set league victory came via set scores 25-14, 25-27, 25-16 and 25-22.

STATISTICALLY SPEAKING

  • Jessica Weber led Suffolk's 53-kill attack with 17 kills behind a .350 attack percentage with six digs, three blocks, one assist and one ace to her credit. 
  • McKenna Keowen contributed a 23-dig, 13-kill double-double with four blocks and two aces. 
  • Grace Cervenka chipped in eight kills, three blocks and three digs. 
  • Jayla Martinez and Aislinn Lanigan set-up the attack with 23 assists and 16 assists, respectively. 
  • To go along with her handouts, Martinez pitched in 15 digs to log a double-double. 
  • Morgan Kelsey had a well-rounded performance of 28 digs, seven assists and two helpers.
  • Tatum Kalt added 16 digs and one ace. 

NOTEWORTHY

  • Suffolk won its fourth straight match against Western New England to move to 5-6 in the all-time series. 
  • Six matches have been determined in four sets including three of Suffolk's wins.
  • Suffolk is undefeated, 4-0, versus the Golden Bears in the Scott Blanchard era. 
  • Keowen recorded her 11th collegiate double-double, sixth of the season.
  • Martinez produced a career-high 15 digs. 
  • Martinez notched her second collegiate double-double, first since Sept. 14, 2022 against Fisher.  

WHAT'S NEXT?
Suffolk heads back to the friendly confines of Larry E. and Michael S. Smith Court Saturday, Oct. 14 for a tri-match with CCC counterpart Gordon and Fisher. The Rams will open the day against the Fighting Scots at 11 a.m., before battling the Falcons at 3 p.m.
