BOSTON – Suffolk volleyball caps off its 2021 home scheduled Wednesday, Oct. 27 with a Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) contest against Curry. First serve is set for 7 p.m.

SUFFOLK ATHLETICS 2021-22 FAN POLICY
Suffolk University Athletics, following guidance from the University's health and safety protocols, Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC), Centers for Disease Control and the Massachusetts Department of Public Health, plans to allow fans to attend home athletic contests during the 2021-22 academic and athletic year.

Fans, whether vaccinated or unvaccinated, can attend games. They must be masked the entire time they are on campus, pursuant to institutional policy, and complete a health screening form at the security desk of each building upon arrival. This policy applies to home contests played on campus at the Ridgeway Building's Larry E. and Michael S. Smith Court, as well as the Emmons Horrigan O'Neil Memorial Rink and the Louis E. Porrazzo Memorial Skating Rink.

For outdoor outings, specifically at East Boston Memorial Park, fans are asked to respect COVID safety protocols. At this time, masks will not be mandated for fans no matter vaccinated status at outdoor venues.

LAST TIME OUT
Suffolk volleyball swept Emmanuel in non-conference action Monday night at Larry E. and Michael S. Smith Court to wrap up its non-conference schedule in the win column. The victory came by set scores 25-17, 25-1 and 25-21.

RAMS RUNDOWN
Suffolk swept its Beantown rival Emmanuel Monday night to improve to 10-15 on the year. Conference wise, the 2-5 Rams are currently in seventh place in the league standings.  

McKenna Keowen not only powers the blue-and-gold's attack, but is one of the biggest offensive threats in the conference with her team-leading 3.44 kps good for third in the league. Jasmine James provides 1.86 kps and Alina Nowakowski adds 1.52 kps to Suffolk's 10.26 kps offense. Harmony Johnson and Jayla Martinez split time as setter with 4.92 aps and 3.86 aps, respectively.  

Kenzley Bell anchors the defense with 3.89 dps. Morgan Kelsey pitches in 2.54 dps and Nowakowski powers the blue-and-gold at the net with 0.68 bps. 

COLONELS CATCHUP
Curry (11-13) enters the midweek match in 10th place in the CCC standings with a 1-7 league ledger.  

Lexi Pareira's 3.58 kps paces the pack for the Colonels with Amanda Wood (1.86 kps) and Lauren Guzman (1.82 kps) consistent contributors to the attack as well. Brooke Reissfelder has served as the primary setter for Curry this season with 6.78 aps to her credit. 

Avia Fraine and Pereira hold down the defense with 3.71 dps and 3.32 dps, respectively. 

INSIDE THE SERIES

  • Suffolk sits 5-3 since 2010 against Curry. 
  • The Rams opened the series with the Colonels with four consecutive wins, before falling in three in a row to Curry. 
  • Suffolk began the series in 2010 with a sweep of Curry, the only three-set match until the last meeting, Oct. 13, 2018, when the blue-and-gold took down the Colonels in straight sets. 
  • The Rams and Colonels needed four sets to determine a winner four times with each team owning a pair of the 3-1 wins. 
  • Suffolk and Curry went to five sets twice. Each team has one 3-2 win to their credit.
