BOSTON – Suffolk volleyball takes its search for its first Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) victory to Endicott Saturday, Sept. 25. The Rams and defending CCC champion Gulls are bound for a 1 p.m. first serve at MacDonald Gymnasium.

SUFFOLK ATHLETICS 2021-22 FAN POLICY
Suffolk University Athletics, following guidance from the University's health and safety protocols, Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC), Centers for Disease Control and the Massachusetts Department of Public Health, plans to allow fans to attend home athletic contests during the 2021-22 academic and athletic year.

Fans, whether vaccinated or unvaccinated, can attend games. They must be masked the entire time they are on campus, pursuant to institutional policy, and complete a health screening form at the security desk of each building upon arrival. This policy applies to home contests played on campus at the Ridgeway Building's Larry E. and Michael S. Smith Court, as well as the Emmons Horrigan O'Neil Memorial Rink and the Louis E. Porrazzo Memorial Skating Rink.

For outdoor outings, specifically at East Boston Memorial Park, fans are asked to respect COVID safety protocols. At this time, masks will not be mandated for fans no matter vaccinated status at outdoor venues.

LAST TIME OUT
On a historic night in Suffolk volleyball history, senior captain Harmony Johnson became the fifth player to dish out 1,000 assists, and the Rams began a new era competing in their first-ever Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) contest against Roger Williams. The Hawks proved to be too much for the blue-and-gold, however, to spoil the league debut for Suffolk, 3-1, behind set scores of 25-18, 17-25, 25-16 and 25-20.

RAMS RUNDOWN
Suffolk moved to 5-7 on the year and 0-1 in CCC contests after falling to Roger Williams, 3-1 in its league debut Thursday, Sept. 23.  

McKenna Keowen is a force offensively and defensively for the blue-and-gold. The freshman outside hitter has 3.00 kps on a .234 hitting clip with 2.78 dps effort. She also supplies 0.46 aces per set. Morgan Kelsey also provides on both sides of the net with a team-high 3.53 dps to go along with 0.97 aces per set. 

Jasmine James adds 2.11 kps to the Rams' 9.71 kps offense that is set up by Harmony Johnson (5.06 aps) and Jayla Martinez (3.82 aps). 

GET TO KNOW THE GULLS
Endicott is a on a two-match win streak including a five-set decision over Wheaton, to head into Saturday's showdown 6-3 on the season and 1-0 in CCC competition.  

As a whole, the Gulls score 11.59 kips with six different student-athletes averaging over 2.00 kps led by Amanda Gilbert (2.56 kps) and Riley Donahue (2.40 kps). Danica Glover and Lauren McGrath share the setting responsibilities with 5.48 aps and 4.64 aps, respectively. 

Defensively, Alexandra Tecun's 3.27 dps pace the pack with Gilbert supplying 2.16 dps and Meghan Murphy adding 3.00 bps. 

INSIDE THE SERIES

  • Suffolk and Endicott have met four times since 1996 with all matches taking place in Beverly, Massachusetts. 
  • The Rams have yet to defeat the Gulls, 0-4. 
  • Every match in the series has been decided in straight sets. 

EYES ON THE MATCH

RAMS RECORD
Harmony Johnson dished out her 1,000th career assist Thursday night to become the fifth-ever Suffolk women's volleyball player to do so. The junior accomplished the feat in just 42 matches, which marks the fastest Ram to join the 1K-assist club in program history.
