Suffolk volleyball will begin its 2021 home slate Tuesday, Sept. 7 when it entertains MIT at Larry E. and Michael S. Smith Court in a 6 p.m. first serve.

SUFFOLK ATHLETICS 2021-22 FAN POLICY
Suffolk University Athletics, following guidance from the University's health and safety protocols, Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC), Centers for Disease Control and the Massachusetts Department of Public Health, plans to allow fans to attend home athletic contests during the 2021-22 academic and athletic year.

Fans, whether vaccinated or unvaccinated, can attend games. They must be masked the entire time they are on campus, pursuant to institutional policy, and complete a health screening form at the security desk of each building upon arrival. This policy applies to home contests played on campus at the Ridgeway Building's Larry E. and Michael S. Smith Court, as well as the Emmons Horrigan O'Neil Memorial Rink and the Louis E. Porrazzo Memorial Skating Rink.

For outdoor outings, specifically at East Boston Memorial Park, fans are asked to respect COVID safety protocols. At this time, masks will not be mandated for fans no matter vaccinated status at outdoor venues.

LAST TIME OUT
Suffolk women's volleyball concluded its tri-match with a straight set victory over the host Albertus Saturday afternoon at Yarnell Athletic Center.

RAMS RUNDOWN
Suffolk rides a two-match win streak into Tuesday night after the Rams swept Albertus Magnus and Husson in a tri-match Saturday. 

The blue-and-gold's 10.11 kps offense is paced by underclassmen in McKenna Keowen (2.33 kps) and Jasmine James (2.22 kps). The offense is set up mainly by Harmony Johnson's 4.78 aps with Jayla Martinez supplying 2.75 apg. At the service line, Johnson serves 1.11 aces per set with Zoe Bogle and Keowen pitching in 1.00 aces per set apiece. Defensively, Kenzley Bell's 4.00 dpg leads the way with Keowen adding 2.33 dps and 0.22 bps.  

EYES ON THE ENGINEERS
MIT boasts an unblemished 3-0 mark after sweeping its three foes in at the Gordon College Invitational in Gordon, Bard and New England College over the weekend.  

Hannah Collins has proven to be the main ingredient to the Engineer's attack with 3.00 kps behind a .400 attack percentage. Julia Carvaias (2.80 kps), Ashley Margetts (2.50 kps) and Allison Barttley (2.50 kps) are consistent contributors as well to an 11.89 kps offense that is primarily set up by Emily Cheng (9.57 aps). 

Emma Suh paces the defense with 4.00 dps with Margetts chipping n 2.83 dps and Consecrata Rozario's 1.00 bps leading the way at the net.

INSIDE THE SERIES

  • The Suffolk, MIT series dates back to 1999. The teams will meet for the first time since 2011. 
  • The Rams trail the all-time series, 0-2, with a loss as the true away team and at a neutral site. 
  • Suffolk will host MIT on its home court for the first time. 
  • Both matches between the Rams and the Engineers were determined in straight sets.

Suffolk ventures to Schenectady, New York, this weekend for four matches at the Union Invitational. The Rams will face Skidmore, Springfield, Williams and the hosts Union over Friday, Sept. 10 and Saturday, Sept. 11.
