BOSTON – Suffolk volleyball remains on the road this Saturday, Sept. 4 for a tri-match featuring Husson at Albertus Magnus. The Rams will open the day against the Eagles at 1:00 p.m., and wrap up the action against the hosts Falcons at 3 p.m. at Yarnell Athletic Center.

SUFFOLK ATHLETICS 2021-22 FAN POLICY
Suffolk University Athletics, following guidance from the University's health and safety protocols, Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC), Centers for Disease Control and the Massachusetts Department of Public Health, plans to allow fans to attend home athletic contests during the 2021-22 academic and athletic year.

Fans, whether vaccinated or unvaccinated, can attend games. They must be masked the entire time they are on campus, pursuant to institutional policy, and complete a health screening form at the security desk of each building upon arrival. This policy applies to home contests played on campus at the Ridgeway Building's Larry E. and Michael S. Smith Court, as well as the Emmons Horrigan O'Neil Memorial Rink and the Louis E. Porrazzo Memorial Skating Rink.

For outdoor outings, specifically at East Boston Memorial Park, fans are asked to respect COVID safety protocols. At this time, masks will not be mandated for fans no matter vaccinated status at outdoor venues.

Suffolk volleyball came out on the wrong side of a straight set decision at Brandeis in its 2021 debut at Red Auerbach Arena.

RAMS RUNDOWN
Suffolk brings a 0-1 record into Saturday's showdown after slipping in straight sets in its season opener at Brandeis Wednesday. 

Jasmine James leads the Rams' attack with 2.33 kps with Julia Leavey chipping in 2.00 kps. Harmony Johnson and Jayla Martinez have split setter responsibilities. The former has 3.67 aps, while the latter has 3.00 aps to her credit. Kenzley Bell paces the defensive unit with 4.00 dpg. 

EAGLES EYES
Husson moved to 1-0 on the year after taking down Saint Joseph's Maine, 3-1, Sept. 1.  

Karimah Land is the main contributor to the Eagles' 12.50 kps offense with the senior middle hitter producing 4.50 kps on a .351 attack percentage. Cheynne Young adds 2.75 kps to the effort. Alyvia McIntyre holds down the setter duty with 4.50 apg for the freshman setter, who also leads the way defensively with 5.50 dpg. DAdrienne Beatty and Julia Leavitt chip in 4.00 dpg and 3.00 dpg, respectively, to a defense that has not recorded a block this year. 

INSIDE THE SERIES

  • Since 2003, Suffolk and Brandeis have met just twice, both of which came at neutral sites. 
  • The Judges swept the Rams in both outings including the last meeting in 2005. 

EYES ON THE MATCH

FALCONS FACTS
Albertus Magnus was swept by Wellesley in its season debut. 

As a team the Falcons are producing just 4.33 kps with Elayna Beutel's and Diana Kalman's 1.67 kps leading the attack. Jaiden Williams sets up the offense with 3.00 aps, while Taina Vargas leads the way defensively with 2.33 dps.  

INSIDE THE SERIES

  • Suffolk holds a commanding 20-3 lead in the all-time series with Albertus Magnus, dating back to 1996, these results, however, are missing the 2000 and 2001 seasons. 
  • The Rams are on an eight-match win streak versus the Falcons. This stretch includes four sweeps, one four-set victory and a pair of five-set thrillers. 
  • The Rams and Falcons have faced off in 11 straight set outings with Suffolk owning 90 percent (10-11) of them. 
  • In four set matches, the blue-and-gold is 8-2. 
  • Suffolk and Albertus have gone to five sets twice, including the foes last meeting in 2019. The Rams have won each five-set match.
