Manfra Takes Home Third GNAC Track Athlete of the Week

WINTHROP, Mass. – For the third time this season, Emily Manfra of the Suffolk women's indoor track & field team was awarded by the conference for her efforts on the track with GNAC Track Athlete of the Week honors after her stellar showing at Boston University's John Thomas Terrier Invitational.

Manfra, a senior from Stoneham, Massachusetts, turned in the second-best time across NCAA Division III in the mile at 4:54.54. Her personal-best time put her 17th at BU, which featured runners from the top track & field programs in the country like Texas and regional Division I powerhouses Boston College, Harvard and Yale.

Since the inaugural weekly awards were handed out Dec. 9, 2019, Suffolk has taken home every athlete of the week nod. In its fifth week, the league split the top athlete honor into track & field categories with the Rams topping the former. Overall, the Rams have six. To go along with Manfra's three, Mariama Kamara (Jan. 20) and Emma Weisse (Dec. 16) were tagged the best athlete over a seven-day stretch, and Sarah Lawton was the first-ever rookie of the Week Dec. 16, 2019.

Manfra and Suffolk are back in action this weekend when it divides up to a pair of events with some of the Rams returning to BU for the Bruce Lehane Scarlett & White Invite and Tufts' Branwen Smith-King Invitational.
