BOSTON – The Suffolk women's soccer team will host Saint Joseph's (Maine) Saturday, Oct. 6 in a GNAC showdown. Prior to the 3 p.m. first kick, the Rams' will honor senior captains Veronica Bernardo and Melissa Adamo.

LAST TIME OUT
The Suffolk women's soccer team and Simmons battled for a scoreless draw Wednesday night at Daly Field.

RAMS RUNDOWN
Suffolk picked up a much needed point in conference action with a scoreless, double overtime stalemate that put the Rams at 2-7-1 on the season and 2-5-1 in league play.

Sophomore Caleigh O'Brien continues to show off her young talent, leading the Rams with six goals on the season. Freshman Julia Hunt and sophomore Addisyn Lanza have added to the offense. The former is second on the squad with three goals for six points, while the latter boasts a stat line of one strike and two handouts.

Allison Rodrigues put together a career-high night with nine saves to secure the shootout of Simmons. Overall, the rookie holds a save percentage of .779 to go along with a 1.81 goals-against average.

MONKS MENTIONABLES
Saint Joseph's (Maine) currently holds down fourth in the GNAC standings with a 7-2-0 overall mark and a 5-2-0 league ledger.

The Monk's offensive attack is led by Haley DaGraca, who is responsible for nine of the team's 23 goals. The senior captain has handed three assists and ranks second behind her classmate and co-captain Colleen Sheehan (5a), who has added a pair of markers as well. DaGraca sits fourth in the conference with 21 points. Combined the captains are responsible for half of SJC's 60 points.

Adia Grogan is the Monk's go-to starter in goal. The keeper holds a .778 save percentage and a 0.97 goals against average with four shutouts to her credit.

INSIDE THE SERIES

 

  • Suffolk looks for its first win over St. Joseph's (Maine) since 2010, as the Rams trail the all-time series, 1-9-2.
  • The Rams lone victory came in 2010 in a 6-2 decision.
  • Suffolk is on a three-game skid versus the Monks including a 3-0 setback in the last meeting, Oct. 21, 2017.
  • There has been one shutout throughout the series. SJC took the decision, 1-0, in 2009.

DOUBLE FEATURE
For the fourth and final time in 2018 Suffolk soccer will play on the same day in front of its home crowd. The men's team gets the action going at 12 p.m. versus cross city foe Emmanuel with the women capping off the day at 3 p.m. against St. Joseph's (Maine). The women look for their first victory when playing on the same day as the men's squad at home.

ACADEMIC ACCOLADES
Suffolk women's soccer has picked up its 11th straight United State Coaches Team Academic Award Thursday morning as the national organization announced the recognition for exemplary performance in the classroom during the 2017-18 academic year.
