HOW IT HAPPENED
Out of a 6-all tie, Western New England put Suffolk in a 13-6 hole after scoring 11 straight points. Colby Guinta and Amanda DeAngelis responded for the Rams as the sophomore and senior traded buckets with the Golden Bears to trim the gap to five, 15-10. The host shot ahead by double figures at the end of the opening quarter, however, behind a 7-2 quarter-ending stretch over the final 1:30 of the first frame.

DeAngelis and Lauren Romito teamed up to cut the margin down to single digits within the first four minutes of the second stanza. WNE took over from there behind a 13-4 run y to send Suffolk to the locker room down 37-20.

Suffolk overpowered the Golden Bears in the third quarter. The Rams rallied back from a 17-point deficit, outscored WNE 28-11 in the third quarter to level the playing field at 48-all. The scoring stretch was capped off by back-to-back buckets from 3-point land by Madi Mahoney to set up a thrilling fourth.

Guinta regained the lead for the Rams on their first possession of the fourth frame. Suffolk gained a four-point advantage, 54-50, with 6:23 remaining in regulation.

A back-and-forth affair ensued, and the Golden Bears got the upper hand at the 3:32 mark, 58-56, when Emma Kahn buried a layup.

The Golden Bears managed to take a four-point edge, 61-57, with 2:14 left to play.

On Suffolk's next possession, Guinta knocked down a triple from the left baseline to pull the blue-and-gold within one.

The Rams were unable to complete the comeback as their shots the rest of the way were off the mark, while Western New England won the game at the free throw line.
