BOSTON – Suffolk softball takes its talents across town once again Wednesday, March 27 when it faces UMass Boston in a double feature. Game one is scheduled to start at 2:30 p.m.

Down three in the seventh, Suffolk softball rattled off nine runs to rally past Emerson, 12-6, in game two of a Boston double feature Friday afternoon at Rotch Field.

RAMS RUNDOWN
Suffolk moved to .500 (7-7) on the season after sweeping Emerson in non-conference action Friday, March 22. The Rams took the opener, 9-2, before coming back in the seventh in the closer, 12-6.  

The blue-and-gold's offense is well-balanced with different bats stepping up at various times. Catherine Carignan is one of the most consistent contributors with a team-best 18 hits behind a .367 average. She has brought in as many runs as she has scored, eight. Ella Turnbull has registered a team-best 11 RBI behind 17 hits, while Becky Zellin has tallied 11 RBI as well on 14 hits including five doubles and two bombs.  

Cynthia Rucinski (30.0 IP, 5.13 ERA, 21 Ks) and Lily Newhall (28.1 IP, 4.69 ERA, 14 Ks) have taken on the bulk of the workload in the circle. Newhall has been the most successful with a 4-2 ledger, while Rucinski sports a 2-2 mark. Turunbull, meanwhile, sports a 2.95 ERA over 19.0 innings with 15 punchouts to her credit for a 1-2 record.  

BEACONS BREAKDOWN
UMass Boston (12-2) saw its 10-game win streak to come an end Monday by the bats of Emmanuel, 8-5.  

Mya Perron has brought in a team-best 11 runs on 15 hits behind a .455 connection rate and scored 13 times herself. The trio of Haley Tilberry (16 hits), Lauryn Bethea (15 hits) and Lauren Miner (12 hits)have all plated seven runs. 

Four arms have combined for a 0.90 ERA. Bri Melchionda (32.0 IP, 0.44 ERA, 38 Ks) and Jacqueline Cerry (31.0 IP, 0.90 ERA, 31 Ks) have taken on the bulk of the work load with five nods apiece. Emily Doble (20.0 IP, 1.75 ERA, 17 Ks) has started three times and appeared five, while Alexis Fleisher (0.70 ERA, 7 Ks) has 10.0 innings under her belt in three games, one start.

Becky Zellin of the Suffolk softball team was named Commonwealth Coast Conference Player of the Week thanks to her efforts in the Rams' doubleheader sweep of Beantown rival Emerson.
