Barry Competes at NCAA Division III Cross Country Championships

NEWVILLE, Pa. – Tim Barry of the Suffolk men's cross country team was featured on the fiercest collegiate course Saturday morning as the senior captain raced at the 2023 NCAA Championships at Big Springs High School.  

Barry, who hails from Westborough, Massachusetts, ran a 5-minute mile over the first two legs of the race and went on to finish the hill-heavy 8k course in 27:36.3 to take 285th in the 294-runner field.  

NOTEWORTHY

  • Barry was one of two Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) student-athletes to compete at NCAAs this season, alongside Nathan Tassey of Roger Williams, who finished 22nd with a time of 24:49.3. 
  • Barry is the second-ever Suffolk male runner to run at the national championship, third overall Ram to achieve the feat. 
  • Barry is the third-ever Suffolk runner to compete at NCAAs in the University's history. 
  • Suffolk has been featured in the NCAA Division III Cross Country Championship field five times, three times by a male (2019, 2021 and 2023) and twice in the women's field (2018 and 2019).
