Men’s Outdoor Track & Field Competed at CCC Championships

FRIDAY RECAP

BRISTOL, R.I. – Suffolk men's outdoor track & field vied for the 2024 Commonwealth Coast Conference crown of the weekend at the league championships. 

The Rams combined for points in both relays (6), 100 (2), 400 (4), 800 (6) and 5000 (14) to finish with a combined 32, fifth in the five-team field. 

ALL-CCC

  • Three Rams collected All-CCC. 
  • Thomas Novy was the only Suffolk student-athlete to scoop up a second-team selection as the junior earned All-CCC Second-Team in the 5000 with a runner-up finish in the event. 
  • Tim Barry and Cam Fredette collected All-CCC Third-Team in their respective events. Barry ran the 800, while Fredette raced the 5000. 

REGIONAL RAMS

  • Barry locked up a spot at New Englands in the 800 with a time of 1:54.78. 

RAMS RECORDS

  • Both Rams in the 400, Joshua Durand and John Avakian, logged personal records. The former ran one lap around the track in 51.66 and the latter clocked a time of 55.43. 
  • Brendan Eddy notched a PR of 12.30 in the 100. 
  • Matthew McGoldrick clocked a career-high 2:16.39 in the 800.
  • Andrew Tansil (24.82) and Eddy both PR'd (25.30) in the 200. 
  • Connor Hayward posted a career-high 16:28.57 in the 5k.  

RAMS RUNNERS

  • Turner Mitchell claimed fifth in the 100 with a 11.57. Eddy finished 23rd in the 33-runner field with a 12.30.
  • Mitchell (23.72) and Durand (23.81) took spots in the top-10 in the 200 in eighth and ninth, respectively. Tansil (24.82), John Avakian (25.16) and Eddy (25.30) raced the half lap around the track also. 
  • Durand claimed fourth in the 400 with a time of 51.66. Avakian was featured int eh 16-sprinter field and claimed 12th with a 55.43-showing.
  • Barry highlighted the Rams in the 800 with a podium finish. His time of 1:54.78 was good for third. . Kely Maloney (2:00.37) took seventh and Evan Wright (2:01.01) was right behind him in eighth. McGoldrick (2:16.39) and Nico Miele were one after another as well in 16th and 17th, respectively. 
  • Conor Garrity (4:34.74), Michael Najarian (4:57.57) and Thomas Fidrocki (5:06.91) participated in the 1500).
  • Novy (14:49.42), Fredette (15:46.91) and Sean Jacobsen (15:50.88) finished second through fourth in the 5k. Hayden Green (16:23.36) and Hayward (1628.57) turned in 15th and 16th  finishes, respectively.
