LAST TIME OUT
Suffolk baseball's bats never figured out the Gulls pitching staff as No. 1 Endicott blanked the Rams, 12-0, in seven innings in a Commonwealth Coast Conference contest at East Boston Memorial Park Tuesday afternoon.

RAMS RUNDOWN
Suffolk's seven-inning setback to No. 1 Endicott Tuesday put the Rams at 15-13 on the year and 4-5 in CCC contests.

The blue-and-gold bats have produced 260 hits with the offense scoring 222 runs in 28 games. The upperclassmen trio of Jonny Gilbride (40 H, 33 RBI, 35 R), Harry Painter (37 H, 33 RBI, 28 R) and Garret Roberts (35 H, 19 RBI, 29 R) have been the biggest offensive contributors for Suffolk.

The Rams' pitching staff is well rested with its last outing coming against the Gulls on Tuesday. Roberts (38.1 IP, 32 Ks), Pierce Salbego (39.2 IP, 41 K), Brett Bucklin (41.1 IP, 2.18 ERA, 29 K) and Painter (15.2 IP, 4.02 ERA, 27 K) could all earn a nod this weekend.

LEOPARDS LOOK
Wentworth coupled back-to-back wins together as it surprised No. 23/26 Roger Williams, 6-3, before besting Saint Joseph's (Maine), 7-3, earlier this week to move to 20-9 overall and 3-4 in CCC play.

Five different batters have surpassed the 30-hit mark through 29 games this season in A.T. DiPina (38), Christian Peruzzi (36), Matthew Favazzo (35) Chrsitian Roncal (32) and Devn Laperre (30). DiPina has produced a team-best 25 RBI, while Peruzzi and Favazzo have brought in 24 runs each. Peruzzi has scored a team-high 27 times, while DiPina and Favazzo have scored.

Brodi Farinas (40.1 IP, 4.24 ERA, 25 K), Nigel Cross (31.0 IP, 3.19 ERA, 26 K), and Matt Ferrara (30.0 IP, 4.50 ERA, 22K) are all well-rested starts for the Leopards' staff.

  • As the home team, Suffolk is 9-2 against WIT. The Rams are unbeaten, 2-0, in Eastie versus the Leopards.
  • On the road the Rams spot a 6-2 mark.
  • The foes have met at a neutral site twice. Suffolk won both of those meetings.
  • In CCC contests, Suffolk sports a 3-1 record against Wentworth.

EYES ON THE GAME

MONKS MENTIONABLES
Saint Joseph's (Maine) has fallen in five straight games to enter the weekend, which features back-to-back doubleheaders against Colby Sawyer and Rivier before its Sunday showdown against Suffolk. The Monks bring a 5-18 overall record into the weekend.

Vinny O'Leary has plated a team-high 12 runs this year behind 21 hits. He has also scored 21 times himself. Jared Wilhelm (26 H, 7 RBI, 13 R), Dawson Gundlah (24 H, 11 RBI, 5 R), Michael Wearne (23 H, 9 RBI, 14 R) and Dylan Brander (21 H, 10 RBI, 7 R) are consistent contributors to SJC's scoring as well.

The Monks have a hectic weekend with five games in three games. Matthew Bergerson (37.2 IP, 5.02 ERA, 27 K), Padraig Mac Seain (31.0 IP, 7.63 ERA, 26 K), Ethan Smith (15.1 IP, 7.63 ERA, 16 K) and Brander (19.0 IP, 3.32 ERA, 15 K) will likely earn the call once.

WE MEET AGAIN
Suffolk renewed a rivalry with St. Joseph's (Maine) in the Sunshine State earlier this year. The Rams and Monks split the double feature as SJC took game one in extras, 5-4, before the blue-and-gold held on for the 7-6 nightcap win.
