BOSTON – Suffolk baseball will clash with UMass Dartmouth Thursday, April 26. The non-conference battle is set for a 3:30 p.m. first pitch at the UMD Baseball Field.

LAST TIME OUT
The Suffolk baseball team renewed a rivalry with Tufts Tuesday afternoon and put on an offensive show as Nine Rams combined for 20 hits to defeat the Jumbos, 16-5, at Huskins Field.

RAMS RUNDOWN
The Rams have picked up the pace lately, winning seven straight to bring in an 18-15 overall record. 

Brady Chant has been the true catalyst for Suffolk's success. The senior centerfielder leads every offensive category for the blue-and-gold. Behind a .378 batting average he has produced 48 hits including 12 doubles with 24 RBI, 30 runs and 20 stolen bases to his credit. Classmate Seth Coiley (.330, 35 H, 17 RBI, 20 R) and freshmen Blasé Cormier (.295, 33 H, 17 RBI, 18 R) and Will Hopkins (.274, 31 H, 21 RBI, 20 R, 10 SB) have all contributed over 30 hits at the dish. 

Suffolk's staff holds a combined 3.89 ERA with 169 strikeouts paced by Mark Fusco's ERA of 2.04. The senior RHP has fanned a team-best 34 strikeouts through 39.2 innings in six starts and seven overall appearances. Tyler Zell's 2.08 ERA falls in a close second as the junior has worked 34.2 innings on the hill and has sat down 25 hitters. Kevin Sinatra (2.93 ERA, 46.0 IP, 27 Ks), Charles Batchelder (3.51 ERA, 48.2 IP, 27 Ks) and Ryan Pordes (5.11 ERA, 44.0 IP, 30 Ks) complete the starting Rams rotation.

CORSAIRS CATCH UP
UMass Dartmouth has picked up four consecutive contests to improve to 18-11 on the season. 

Sophomore Nate Tellier is the most potent at the plate as the sophomore has 43 hits on a .361 connection rate with 24 RBI and 22 runs on his stat line. Mitch Baker is also a threat with 37 hits on a .356 average with 16 RBI and 22 runs scored, while Jose Vasquez is the most dependable bat, hitting .378 for 34 hits, 21 RBI and 21 runs scored. 

On the hill, Matt Cronin is extremely impressive as the junior boasts a 0.42 ERA and 50 Ks as the Corsairs most experienced arm, with 43.0 innings of work under his belt. Ben Lodge (3.74 ERA, 33 Ks, 33.2 IP) and Ryan Bruning (3.41 ERA, 20 Ks, 29.0 IP) round out the top trio of hurlers for Dartmouth.

Suffolk has gone 1-2 versus UMass Dartmouth in Anthony Del Prete's tenure with the lone win coming in 10 innings April 28, 2016. Overall, the Corsairs, who defeated the Rams 13-8 a year ago, hold a commanding 22-7 all-time series lead.

MILESTONE MOMENT
Suffolk joined an elite club Saturday, April 21 with the Rams 11-2 win over Norwich, which marked the program's 1000th victory all-time becoming the 66th program in NCAA Division III history to reach the milestone. 

PLAYER OF THE WEEK
For the second time this season, Suffolk baseball's Brady Chant has been named GNAC Corvias Player of the Week. 

Chant earned the recognition after helping the blue-and-gold go 6-1 with a slash line of .393/.485/.607. The senior centerfielder went 11-for-28 with six doubles, seven runs scored and 10 RBI, while going 7-for-8 on stolen base attempts. The Warwick, Rhode Island native, had four multi-hit performances highlighted by a 3-for-5 effort for a season-high four RBI in game two at Norwich, which marked Suffolk's 1000th win in program history.

WHAT'S NEXT?
Suffolk will use the Thursday tilt at UMass Dartmouth as prep for its biggest GNAC weekend of the season as the 18-15 Rams, who are 11-1 in against conference competition, welcome Saint Joseph's (Maine), who is receiving votes in by the ABCA and D3Baseball.com Coaches Polls, Saturday, April 28 for Senior Day at 1 p.m.
