The Modern Theatre Residence Hall is one Suffolk's residence halls.
When you live in the Modern Theatre residence hall, you will be staying in one of the Crown Jewels of Boston's historic Theatre District.
523-525 Washington Street, Boston, MA 02108
The Modern opened in 1914 as the first venue specifically designed to show motion pictures in Boston. It presented Boston's first "talkie" in 1928 and the nation's first double feature.
Suffolk began renovating the historic building in 2008 to restore it to its former glory.
Today, Modern features a fully restore facade, an orange performance space for productions by the Suffolk University Theatre Department, and housing for 197 students.
