Women’s Cross Country Takes Battle for Boston Commons Title

BOSTON – Suffolk women's cross country won the third annual Battle for Boston Commons Saturday afternoon, defeating Emerson in a dual race by a 26-30 margin at Franklin Park.

Freshman Gwen Koziara handled the 15-runner field with a 6k time of 24:26. Sydney Fogg was 40 seconds behind Koziara to land second and helped the Rams hoist the trophy for the third straight year in the head-to-head match, which pits Suffolk against its Boston Common neighbor Emerson.

Sarah Roberts, Christina Baggitt and Therese McKeagney all finished in the top 10 as well. Roberts clocked a 27:24, good for sixth, while Baggitt (27:45) and McKeagne (28:08) came through the chute one after another in eighth and ninth, respectively. 

Skyler Spanbauer's 29:12 came in 10th, while Michelle Riley's 32:19 was good for 12th.

The Rams will now prepare for the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC), which are on tap for Saturday, Oct. 30 at Western New England.
