BOSTON – The fourth-seeded Suffolk volleyball team will host the Commonwealth Coast Conference Quarterfinals for the first time in program history tonight, Tuesday, Nov. 1 when the Rams welcome fifth-seeded Salve Regina to Larry E. and Michael S. Smith Court for a 7 p.m. first serve.

RAMS IN THE POSTSEASON

  • Suffolk ventures into its 16th conference postseason.
  • The blue-and-gold is the fourth seed for the third time in program history, first since 2019. The fourth spot in the field ties the highest for the blue-and-gold in program history.
  • Suffolk will host its third tournament outing in program history, first since 2005.
  • The Rams are 1-1 when hosting a playoff game.
  • The Rams look to escape the quarterfinals for the third time in program history, first since 2019.
  • Under Scott Blanchard's guidance, Suffolk is 2-3 all-time in postseason play with a pair of semifinal appearances in 2018 and 2019, respectively. 

RAMS IN THE CCC CROWN CHASE

  • Suffolk will make its second straight trip to the CCC Tournament in as many years in the league.
  • The Rams are the fourth seed in the CCC playoffs for the first time.

LAST TIME OUT
Suffolk volleyball put together a decisive straight set victory over Nichols Saturday morning at Larry E. and Michael S. Smith Court. The victory came via set scores 25-19, 25-17 and 25-17 and wrapped the Rams regular-season with 19 triumphs, which ties the most victories in a regular-season in program history.

RAMS RUNDOWN
Suffolk wrapped up the regular-season on a six-match win streak to tie the program's regular-season win mark of 19-9. 

Jess Weber (3.48 kps) and McKenna Keowen (3.17 kps) each supply over 3.00 kps to the Rams' 11.37 attack that is set up by Harmony Johnson's 7.62 aps. Johnson is one of four forces at the service line with 0.67 aces per set to her credit with Morgan Kelsey (0.94 aps), Jayla Martinez (0.71 aps) and Tatum Kalt (0.66 aps) powering the blue-and-gold's 3.62 aces per set.

Defensively, Kenzley Bell's 4.59 dps powers the pack. Kelsey supplies 2.39 dps and Keowen pitches in 2.24 dps, while Alina Nowakowski (0.56 bps) and Grace Cervenka (0.51 bps) lead the way at the net.

SEAHAWKS SAYINGS
Salve Regina capped off its regular-season schedule with back-to-back sweeps to head into Tuesday's tilt 15-9 overall. 

Brighton Solehim's 3.23 kps is anchoring the Seahawks' 11.89 attack with Madison Lee (3.12 kps) averaging over 3.00 kps as well. Siena DeCicco (8.35 aps) and Katelyn O"Brien (7.90 aps) split time as Save Regina's setter.

Kate Murphy's 4.30 dps leads the defensive effort. Solheim adds 3.63 dps and Meghan Corkery provides 0.85 bps at the net.

WE MEET AGAIN
Suffolk volleyball reentered the win column for with a 3-1 Commonwealth Coast Conference triumph against Salve Regina Wednesday, Oct. 12 at Larry E. and Michael S. Smith Court. The Rams victory, their first in five outings, came by set scores 25-23, 25-20, 21-25 and 25-22.

INSIDE THE SERIES

  • Suffolk sits 1-2 all-time against the Seahawks.
  • Suffolk defeated Salve Regina for the first time in program history earlier this season with a 3-1 decision Oct. 12.

RAMS RECOGNITION
For the third time this season, Grace Cervenka of the Suffolk volleyball team picked up Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Rookie of the Week after a 1.83 kps, and 0.67 bps in a 2-0 week for the Rams the league office announced Monday afternoon.

RAMS RECORD WATCH
Suffolk's seniors have made the Rams' record book already this year.  

Harmony Johnson became the program's all-time leader in assists on Tuesday, Oct. 18 at Roger Williams. She surpassed Julia Sullivan's previous mark of 1,821 handouts that has been atop the Rams' leader board since 2010. Johnson holds 1,948 career assists to her credit and aims to be the first Ram to hit the 2,000-assist mark. 

Kenzley Bell, meanwhile, joined the 1,000-dig club on Saturday, Oct. 8 versus Manhattanville. She became just the third Suffolk student-athlete to do so, first since Dakhensey Marcellus accomplished the feat in 2020. Now, the Lake Park, Georgia, native is inching into second-place on the all-time digs list as she is 21 away from upstaging Marcellus' mark of 1,074.
