Cervenka Named CCC Rookie of the Week

CCC RELEASE

BIDDEFORD, Maine – For the third time this season, Grace Cervenka of the Suffolk volleyball team picked up Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Rookie of the Week after a 1.83 kps, and 0.67 bps in a 2-0 week for the Rams the league office announced Monday afternoon.

The freshman from Sugar Land, Texas, played in every set over two sweeps. She opened the week against the University of New England, she recorded six kills and two blocks, before producing five kills and a pair of blocks versus Nichols.

The weekly recognition marks the third for Cervenka this season. Overall this season Suffolk owns seven weekly awards. In addition to Cervenka's Kenzley Bell holds a pair of CCC Libero of the Week nods, Oct. 3 and Oct. 17, respectively. Jess Weber was named the best rookie over a seven-day stretch Sept. 6 and that same week McKenna Keowen took home the league's best player of the week.

Suffolk wrapped up the regular-season on a six-match win streak to finish 19-9 overall and 6-3 in CCC contests, good for the fourth seed in the upcoming 2022 CCC Women's Volleyball Tournament.

The Rams will host the conference quarterfinals for the third time in program history, first in the CCC era, Tuesday, Nov. 1 when they welcome fifth seed Salve Regina to Larry E. and Michael S. Smith Court for a 7 p.m. match.
