BOSTON – After five matches away, Suffolk volleyball returns to the friendly confines of Larry E. and Michael S. Smith Court Thursday, Oct. 21 for a non-conference tangle with Regis. First serve is set for 7 p.m.

SUFFOLK ATHLETICS 2021-22 FAN POLICY
Suffolk University Athletics, following guidance from the University's health and safety protocols, Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC), Centers for Disease Control and the Massachusetts Department of Public Health, plans to allow fans to attend home athletic contests during the 2021-22 academic and athletic year.

Fans, whether vaccinated or unvaccinated, can attend games. They must be masked the entire time they are on campus, pursuant to institutional policy, and complete a health screening form at the security desk of each building upon arrival. This policy applies to home contests played on campus at the Ridgeway Building's Larry E. and Michael S. Smith Court, as well as the Emmons Horrigan O'Neil Memorial Rink and the Louis E. Porrazzo Memorial Skating Rink.

For outdoor outings, specifically at East Boston Memorial Park, fans are asked to respect COVID safety protocols. At this time, masks will not be mandated for fans no matter vaccinated status at outdoor venues.

LAST TIME OUT
Down 2-0, Suffolk volleyball stormed back and won the next three to capture a 3-2 Commonwealth Coast Conference win over the University of New England Tuesday night at the Harold Alfond Forum. The Rams league win came by set scores 22-25, 23-25, 25-22, 25-23, 15-12.

RAMS RUNDOWN
Suffolk (8-13) inched closer to double-digit wins after defeating the University of New England in five sets Tuesday night. 

The Rams attack yesterday was powered by the Class of 2024 and that was no different from this season as first-year McKenna Keowen powers the offense with 3.34 kps. Jasmine James is second on the squad with 1.96 kps with Julia Leavey (1.49 kps) and Alina Nowakowski (1.45 kps) contributing as well. Harmony Johnson and Jayla Martinez set up the attack with 4.93 aps and 3.92 aps, respectively. Morgan Kelsey pitches into the offense from the service line with 0.89 aces per set.

Defensively, Kenzley Bell has taken on the role of the Rams' libero as of late and her 3.95 dps shows. Kelsey chips in 2.73 dps and Nowakowski notches 0.67 bps.

PRIDE POINTS
Regis (16-6) rattled off four straight set wins in a row before falling in at UMass Boston, 3-2, Tuesday night. 

Valerie Whalen's 2.43 kps leads the way for the Pride's 11.04 kps offense. Rita Dow and Ahnasia Mckinney register 2.12 kps and 2.11 kps, respectively. Emily Fagundo (7.83 aps) and Karly Sanborn (7.17 aps) have split setting duties. 

Mica van der Meulen holds down the defensive unit with 3.91 dps. Kamdyn Tenorio records 3.52 dps and Kate Montigny tallies 1.00 bps.

  • The Rams have won back-to-back battles over the Pride by identical 3-1 margins to take an 8-7 lead in the series.

Suffolk is in store for an action packed Saturday, Oct. 23 as the Rams entertain Gordon and Fitchburg State in a tri-match at Smith Court. The blue-and-gold open the day with a CCC contest against the Fighting Scots at 11 a.m., before wrapping up the action at 3 p.m. versus the Falcons.
