WELLESLEY, Mass. – Suffolk volleyball opened a five-match road trip with a 3-1 setback at Wellesley Saturday afternoon at the Dorothy Towne Fieldhouse. The decision came by set scores, 18-25, 25-15, 25-19 and 25-21.

SET ONE RECAP (25-18, SUFFOLK)
- Suffolk grabbed an early 5-0 edge that turned into a 16-9 advantage at the midway point.
- A Wellesley timeout did not slow down the Rams as they sprang ahead 22-13 and rolled to the set win.
SET TWO RECAP (25-15, WELLESLEY)
- The Blue put the first nine points on the board before a Rams' response of five consecutive points came to slice the margin down.
- Wellesley strung together a 7-2 stretch to put Suffolk in a 16-7 hole.
- That deficit proved to be too much ground for the blue-and-gold to make up.
SET THREE RECAP (25-19, WELLESLEY)
- Out of a 6-6 game, the Blue rattled off five to make it a lopsided score, 11-6.
- That run jump started an 8-2 stretch by the hosts that made it a double-digit distance, 19-9.
- A late response came late by outscoring the Blue, 10-4, cut the deficit down to 24-19.
- An attack error by Jasmine James gave Wellesley the frame.
SET FOUR RECAP (25-21, WELLESLEY)
- Wellesley went ahead 11-5 to force an early Suffolk timeout.
- The break did not help the Rams as the Blue kept the pace the rest of the way to take the set and match.
STATISTICALLY SPEAKING
- McKenna Keowen paced the offense and defense with 16 kills and 11 digs.
- James provided 10 kills to the 40-kill attack.
- Kenzley Bell produced 24 digs.
- Jayla Martinez and Harmony Johnson set up the attack with 17 assists and 13 assists, respectively.
NOTEWORTHY
- Keowen produced her fourth double-double of the season.
LOOKING AHEAD
Suffolk remains on the road Wednesday, Oct. 13 as it travels to Western New England for a Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) match at 7 p.m.
