Keowen Repeats as CCC Rookie of the Week

CCC RELEASE

BIDDEFORD, Maine – McKenna Keowen of the Suffolk volleyball team earned her second straight Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Rookie of the Week nod after a standout showing in the Rams' pair of conference contests last week. The accolade comes on the heels of a 4.13 kills per set and 2.63 digs per set average in a 0-2 week for the blue-and-gold.

The freshman outside hitter from San Ramon, California opened the week with a double-double of 19 kills and 12 digs in a four-set loss to Roger Williams in the program's CCC debut Thursday, Sept. 23. Two days later, she was on the verge of her second straight double-double with a 14-kill, nine-dig effort in a 3-1 setback at Endicott.

Keowen collected her third weekly recognition this season as she swept the conference's Player and Rookie of the Week titles a week ago.  She is the first player in the league to reprise her role as the best rookie over a seven day stretch this season, and is the first Ram to do so since Harmony Johnson earned her third and record-setting fourth GNAC Rookie of the Week nods in 2019, Oct. 8 and Oct. 28, respectively.

Keowen and the Rams have just one match to prepare for this week, a Thursday, Sept. 30 tilt at Nichols. First serve is on tap for 7 p.m.
