Bell, Johnson Tabbed Volleyball’s Captains for 2021

BOSTON – Suffolk volleyball's Kenzley Bell and Harmony Johnson will share leadership responsibilities as the junior duo have been named co-captains for the 2021 campaign head coach Scott Blanchard has announced.  

"The two of them played such a crucial role in our last "real" season, which was a record setting season, and there is no doubt they are the unquestioned leaders of this team," Blanchard said. "We look to them to lead a very young team into a new conference, and a new era of Suffolk volleyball." 

Bell took the hardwood last season in the Rams' exhibition matches, while Johnson spent the year remote after the cancellation of the 2020 regular-season due to the COVID-19 pandemic. 

As freshman in 2019, the duo was main ingredient Suffolk's winningest season, which saw the Rams produce their first 20-win season (20-12) and advance to the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC0 semifinals for the second straight season and fourth time overall.  

Individually, Johnson made her name known amongst conference counterparts, as well as the New England region. The Riverside, California, product was the first Ram to be tabbed to the New England Women's Volleyball Association All-Rookie Team, and secured a spot on the GNAC's third team after an 8.20 assists per set first season.  

Bell, meanwhile, contributed 3.44 digs per set and served 0.51 aces per set over 29 matches in her first collegiate campaign.  

The pair headlines a 21-player roster comprised mainly of underclassman with a dozen true freshman and five sophomores, who have yet to compete collegiately. The leadership contingent of Bell and Johnson will be boasted by another couple veterans in their classmate Michelle Lo and senior Chryssabella Jones-Craig

Suffolk's season commences Wednesday, Sept. 1 when the Rams travel to Brandeis for a 6:00 p.m. first serve.
