Fabiano, Mullahy to Captain Volleyball in 2019

BOSTON Hannah Fabiano and Sarah Mullahy will share leadership responsibilities as head coach Scott Blanchard has named the junior and senior as co-captains for the 2019 Suffolk volleyball season.

"We are very fortunate to have Sarah and Hannah as captains this year, "Blanchard said. "They will work together, to continue to keep this program moving in the right direction. Each brings a different skill set, and together they make the perfect team. Leaders on and off the court, Sarah and Hannah have been instrumental in changing the culture of the team, and will continue to do so. I am very much looking forward to having them lead this team."

The duo has helped push the Rams to new limits as of late with back-to-back GNAC Tournament appearances including the program's first-ever semifinals showing a year ago.

Mullahy has helped Suffolk reach the postseason in each of her three seasons in blue-and-gold, while Fabiano has aided to back-to-back GNAC Tournament appearances as well. The pair were crucial ingredients to last season's semifinal showing, the first-ever in program history.

Fabiano has been a staple in Suffolk's lineup since arriving in Beacon Hill in 2017. The outside hitter from Litchfield, New Hampshire, has accumulated 446 kills, 338 digs and 53 blocks over 53 matches and 184 sets played. As a freshman in 2017, she was awarded for her 2.65 kills per set, 2.54 dig per set effort with All-GNAC Third-Team accolades. The Psychology major was also acknowledged for her actions off the court as well, with a spot on the league's all-sportsmanship team in her first campaign.

Mullahy will wrap up her collegiate career in 2019. Since joining the Rams' ranks as a sophomore in 2017, the Mansfield, Massachusetts, local has made her presence known at the net as middle blocker. In matches played, she has put up 58 blocks and 92 kills to go along with 23 aces.

Suffolk's season commences Labor Day Weekend at the Babson Invitational where the Rams will face Maine Presque Isle (Aug. 30), Manhattanville (Aug. 31) and tournament host Babon (Aug. 31).
