Women’s Outdoor Track & Field Wins Regis Spring Classic

WESTON, Mass. – Suffolk women's outdoor track & field captured first at the Regis Spring Classic Monday.  

The Rams compiled a team score of 128 to top the 10-team field, 43 points ahead of runner-up Emmanuel. The host Regis rounded out the top three with 84. 

Individually, Sharaden Caldwell shined for Suffolk as the freshman won the discus and hammer. The freshman heaved the discus 32.41 meters to top the 27-fielder event that featured Maddie Moore (27.06), Gracie O'Connell (25.73) and Lydia Comprosky (22.42). Moore claimed a spot in the top-10 as well in eighth, while O'Connell was just outside in 11th.  

In the hammer, Caldwell logged a personal-best 35.13-meter heave to land atop the 16-thrower field. O'Connell captured second with a toss of 34.11 meters and Comprosky rounded out the Rams in the event with a 14th-place performance behind a 21.62-meter throw.

Moore represented the blue-and-gold in the shot put and turned in a 19th-place performance on a 7.96-meter heave.

The pole vault podium was all blue-and-gold as Molly Hennegan won the event as she cleared 3.03 and Sasha Helfgott-Waters and Devyn Battistoni shared second with a 2.88-meter showing.  

Helfgott-Waters also claimed fifth in the triple jump with a 9.61-meter leap. 

Rams runners competed in five events including a first-place performance by the 4x100 Relay Team of JJ ContehHilma OrtegaEmily Concepcion and Amanda Walden

Concepcion set a personal and school record in the 400 with a time of 58.74 to win the seven-runner event. Alyssa Rodriguez took third with a 1:02.55 and Kaylie Groom finished fourth in 1:03.23.

Walden took first in the 200 with a 26.28 showing. Concepcion was two spots behind in third in 27.04 and Conteh (27.31) was right after Concepcion in fourth. Groom (28.73) and Ortega (29.87) both ran half laps around the track as well.  

Walden placed second in the 100 with a 12.86. Conteh was 0.11 seconds after Walden to take fourth. Rodrgieuz sprinted the 100 in 13.96. 

Ortega hurdled to a school record of 16.56 in the 100 to claim second, while Catherine Madden took fourth with a 17.51.  

Suffolk has two more events on its schedule this week, the Silfen Invitational and the Penmen Relays.
