Walden, 4x400 Relay Team Collect CCC Weekly Awards

BIDDEFORD, Maine – Suffolk women's outdoor track & field scooped up a pair of Commonwealth Coast Conference weekly awards after the Rams put together a runner-up finish at the conference championships over the weekend. Amanda Walden was named CCC Track Athlete of the Week and was a member of the CCC Relay of Team of the Week as the blue-and-gold's 4x400 squad of Walden, Amy PattelenaEmily Concepcion and Jocelyn Triscik took home the recognition.  

Walden, a junior from Foxboro, Massachusetts, was a four-time Gold Medalist at the CCC Championships at the Brigham Athletic Complex on the campus of Gordon College. She won the 100 and 200 and was part of Suffolk's champion relay teams. Walden was the premiere sprinter at the meet  with a 12.55 in the 100 and a 26.07 200. 

The relay teams won the 4x100 with a time of 49.94, while the 4x400 team won the event handily. The foursome finished with a time of 4:07.44, more than five seconds ahead of second-place finisher.  

It is the second-time this season that Walden earned the tome runner of the week by the league as she garnered the distinction for the first time this season April 3. Throughout her career, Walden holds three weekly awards from the CCC. This season, Suffolk has five weekly awards. On top of Walden's and the 4x400 team this week, the 4x100 squad and Nicole DiBenedetto were recognized as the top relay team and CCC Field Athlete of the Week March 27. 

Suffolk's season switches gears as the Rams who qualified will compete this weekend, May 5-6, at the New England Division III Regional Championships at Blake Track in Springfield, Massachusetts.
