Women’s Outdoor Track & Field Runner-Up at CCC Championships

WENHAM, Mass. – Suffolk women's outdoor track & field put together a runner-up finish at the 2023 Commonwealth Coast Conference Outdoor Championships yesterday at Brigham Athletic Complex, hosted by Gordon College. 

 The Rams turned in their program-best finish at the CCC Championships with 142 points to finish behind Endicott's 166 points and ahead of the University of New England's 118 points. Roger Williams and Gordon rounded out the top-five with 84 and 53 points, respectively.  

Suffolk scored points in 15 events including the 100 hurdles (3), 100 (14), 200 (15), 400 (14), 800 (13), 1500 (16), 5000 (6), shot put (2), pole vault (15), long jump (8), javelin (4), hammer throw (6), high jump (7), triple jump (1), 4x100 Relay (10) and 4x400 Relay (10).  

Student-athletes who placed first (gold medalist), second (silver medalist) or third (bronze medalist) in an event earned all-conference first-team, second-team and third-team honors.  

Amanda Walden was a crucial ingredient to the Rams' runner-up finish and left the North Shore as the most decorated Ram with four gold medals. She won the 100 and 200 dashes, respectively, and was part of the Rams' first-place 4x100 and 4x400 relay teams. Joining the blue-and-gold's junior on the 4x100 were Lauren WoodAlyssa Rodriguez and Emily Concepcion. Concepcion was also a 4x400 runner with Amy Pattelena and Jocelyn Triscik also racing. 

Concepcion collected a silver medal in the 400 and Rodriguez registered a bronze medal in the same event. Triscik and Pattelena, meanwhile, each earned silver medals. Triscik turned in a second-place showing in the 800. Pattelena logged a second-place showing in the 1500 and was joined on the podium by Sydney Fogg, who took home a bronze. 

Ellie Davis picked up a bronze in the 5000 to round out the Rams runners' all-league honorees. 

In the pole vault, Molly Hennegan and Sophia Echevarria placed second and third, respectively. Wood leapt her way to a bronze medal in the long jump and Nicole DiBenedetto jumped to a bronze in the high jump. 

Gracie O'Connell threw her way to a bronze in the hammer throw. 

Suffolk's season continues at the New England Division III Regional Championships next weekend May 5-6. The Rams that earned their place at regionals will compete at Blake Track in Springfield, Massachusetts.
