Women’s Outdoor Track & Field Wins Nine Events at Suffolk Invite

HINGHAM, Mass. – Suffolk women's outdoor track & field had another standout showing this weekend at its own Suffolk Invite. In the 16 events that were scattered over Saturday and Sunday at both Hingham High School and Gordon's Brigham Athletic Complex, the Rams competed in 13 and won nine.

Amanda Walden kept her collegiate record in the 100 and 200 perfect. The freshman clocked a 13.09 in the 100 and finished the 200 in 27.25 to finish atop each seven-runner field. Lauren Wood joined her classmate in the 100 and captured fourth behind a time of 14.12.

Megan Qualters put together a season-high performance in the 400. The junior needed just 1:10.14 to complete one lap around the track.

Sarah Roberts made her collegiate debut in the 800. The rookie finished her two laps in 3:02.15.

Sydney Fogg ran the mile for the first time in her college career and was joined in the five-runner field by Natalie Fay. Fogg placed second with a time of 5:27.62, while Fay finished right behind her in 6:14.41.

Leah Doucot made her debut in the 100M hurdles and finished the leaping sprint in 20.55.

Suffolk secured first in all three jumping events, as well as all four fielding events, all of which were won by junior captain Allison Rodrigues.

Rodrigues took first in the discus (29.59), shot put (10.74), and javelin (29.31), and hammer throw (39.21). Her hammer throw performance was a personal-best for the North Andover, Massachusetts product, and marks the 14th-highest toss in New England in 2021.

Doucot joined Rodrigues in the hammer throw and produced a personal-record as well with a 33.58-meter throw.

Nicole DiBenedetto notched an outdoor personal-best mark in the high jump of 1.44 to top the four-jumper field. Wood also sat atop the four-jumper long-jump event behind a leap of 4.66. Back from a week of rest, Grace Dreher's three jumps equaled 9.72 meters, good for another top mark.

Suffolk looks to use this met a momentum as it competes for the CCC Championship next Sunday, May 2 at Roger Williams in Portsmouth, Rhode Island.
