Women’s Track & Field Rewrites Records at David Hemery Valentine Invitational

BOSTON – Three Suffolk women's indoor track & field records and five personal bests were achieved over the weekend at Boston University's David Hemery Valentine Invitational. 

RAMS RECEORDS

  • Freshman JJ Conteh was the first to put her name atop the Rams record book in the 60-meter dash as the freshman clocked a 7.90.
  • Amanda Walden upstaged her own record in the 200 with a 25.69. In that same event, Emily Concepcion (26.48) and Conteh (27.19) had personal bests. 
  • Concepcion clocked a 58.31 in the 400. She became the fastest Ram to run around the track once earlier this season, and first to do it in under a minute. Friday she rest that record.
  • Sydney Fogg's 2:24.83 in the 800 marked a career-high for the senior. That time was .4 seconds shy of punching a ticket to NCAA Division III New England Regionals. 
  • Catherine Madden came the second Ram in program history to break under 10 seconds in the 60 hurdles with a 9.91 showing. 
  • The group of Walden, Rodriguez, Groom and Concepcion combined forces for a school record of 4:03.99 in the 4x400.

RAMS RUNNERS

  • Conteh and Walden both finished in the top-12 of the 49 sprinters in the 60-meter dash. Conteh's 7.90 was good for seventh, while Walden placed 11th. 
  • Walden had the best Suffolk showing in the 200 as the senior captain claimed 64th of the 224 runners with a time of 25.69. Concepcion (26.48- 131st) and Conteh (27.19 –174) were featured in the field as well. 
  • Concepcion turned in an 85th-place performance in the 400 with her time of 58.31. Alyssa Rodriguez (1:03.03) and Kaylie Groom (1:03.22) compete in the event that featured 215 runners. 
  • Madden's 9.91 60 hurdle mark was good for 20th out of 26 hurdlers. 

RAMS RELAYS

  • The foursome of Walden, Rodriguez, Groom and Concepcion finished 31st out of the 42 4x400 Relay teams with a time of 4:03.99.

Suffolk defends its title at the Frozen 8 Championships Friday, Feb. 16 at the USM Field House in Gorham, Maine.
