Two Events in Store for Indoor Track & Field this Weekend

BOSTON – Suffolk indoor track & field splits up its talent this weekend at a pair of events – Boston University's David Hemery Valentine Invitational and Bowdoin's Lynn Ruddy Invite. The Rams women will compete across town at BU on Friday, Feb. 9 with the men participating on Saturday, Feb. 10. Action in Maine consumes Saturday's slate as well.

DAVID HEMERY VALENTINE INVITIATIONAL

  • Sydney Fogg will be running the 800 with the goal of qualifying for New Englands in her second event. 
  • Amanda Walden and JJ Conteh will both be featured in the 60. The senior and freshman have already qualified for New England's. Conteh aims to be the third Suffolk woman to break 8.0 seconds in the event. 
  • Walden and Conteh will also run the 200 later in the day along with teammates Emily ConcepcionKaylie Groom and Alyssa Rodriguez.
  • In the 400, Concepcion will look to improve her school record, and inch closer to a top 20 mark in the country. 
  • Catherine Madden in the hurdles will be attempting to become the second Ram to break the 10.0-second barrier. 
  • High jumper Catherine Brown will make her BU debut competing at the venue for the first time. She is on the cusp of a breakthrough and punching het ticket to New Englands. 
  • Pole vaulters, Devyn BattistoniMolly Hennegan and Kara Sickle will be back in action with Sickle and Hennegan looking to join Battistoni as New England qualifiers. 
  • The women's 4x400 relay will be in action as well and looks to rewrite the Rams indoor record of 4:11. 
  • Tim Barry and Luke Sikora will be featured in the 800 field. Sikora needs to shave less than a second from his last performance to qualify for New Engalnds. 
  • Vaulters Owen Campbell and Joshua Catino are set to compete after having major break throughs in practice last week. 
  • Suffolk record holder Carter Nevulis will be in the hurdles looking to get pushed to a new personal-best. 
  • Captains Turner Mitchell and Joshua Durand will be going head-to-head for bragging rights in the 200. 
  • Mitchell is on the verge of a Rams record in the 60, which is his goal over the final stretch of the season.
