Indoor Track & Field Splits Up at Three Events this Weekend

BOSTON – Suffolk indoor track & field has a full weekend Jan. 26-27 in store with three events on the docket with Rams set to compete at the John Thomas Terrier Classic at Boston University, UMass Lowell's River Hawk Invitational at the Track at New Balance and the Husky Invitational at the USM Fieldhouse in Gorham, Maine.

HUSKY INVITATIONAL HITS
Rams field athletes in throws and jumps will be highlighted and younger student-athletes will also have a chance to race similar competition in Vacation Land. 

RIVER HAWKS INVITAITONAL 

JOHN THOMAS TERRIER CLASSIC

  • Thomas Novy is going for the school record in the indoor 5k and a Division III New England Qualifying mark with a goal to break 15:00 and become the second Suffolk student-athlete to do so. 
  • Tim Barry will make his season debut in the 800. He's the Rams record holder in the event and events the weekend with the hopes of qualifying for New England Regionals. 
  • Luke Sikora, who already qualified for regionals in the 1000, is looking to set a new indoor PR in the 800 and punch his second regionals ticket. 
  • Kely Maloney will be aiming to break 2:00.00 for the first time after running a 2:00.04 a year ago. He would become the fifth Suffolk athlete to break the two-minute mark in the 800. 
  • Evan Wright will try his hands in the 1k.
  • The spring trio of John AvakianJoshua Durand and Turner Mitchell will be in action. All three will race the 200. Mitchell will also run the 60 and Durand will be in the 400 as well. 
  • In the pole vault, school record holder Joshua Catino will be in action along with freshman Owen Campbell
  • Hayden Green will race the 3k, whiel fellow distance runners Cam Fredette and Jadan Wenceslao will race the mile. 
  • Amy Pattelena will look to break her own school record in the 800 and improve her top-10 regional ranking. 
  • Sarah Roberts will run her first 5k of the season. The senior captain attempts to run under 19 minutes for the first time. 
  • Sydney Fogg will be attempting to qualifying for New Englands in the 1000.
  • Amanda Walden will be racing the 60 and 200, both of which she has qualified for New Englands already. She aims to improve on her top-3 East Region ranking in the latter.
  • Emily Concepcion will be racing the 400 and has already qualified in the event after becoming the first Ram in program history to run a lap in under a minute. The junior aims to run the 58s for the first time in her indoor collegiate career. 
  • The women's vault quad will be in action this weekend led by school record holder and New England Regional qualifier Devyn Battistoni. Freshman Sasha Helfgott-Waters will look to join her with a regionals qualifying mark this weekend. Sophomores Molly Hennegan and Kara Sickle have both set new PRs to start the season and will look to keep the momentum going this weekend. 

SUFFOLK'S SCHEDULE
Two events are in store for Suffolk next weekend Feb. 2-3; Boston University's Bruce Lehane Scarlet & White Invitational and the Panther Invitational II at Plymouth State.
