Walden Grabs USTFCCCA All-East

USTFCCCA RELEASE

NEW ORLEANS – Amanda Walden of the Suffolk women's indoor track & field team scooped up U.S. Track & Field Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) All-East honors in the 60m dash, the national organization announced Tuesday.

The top-5 individuals in each event from each region earned All-Region distinction, in addition to each member of the region's top-3 relay teams. The regions used for this distinction – East, Great Lakes, Emtro, Mid-Atlantic, Mideast, Mideast, Niagara, North, South and West – match those used during the cross country campaign.

Walden captured the regional recognition with a time of 7.96 good, which she set at the Frozen 8 Championships to help Suffolk win the event in its inaugural year. The performance is the fifth-best in the East, just 0.01 second ahead of Wheaton's Michaina Loriston and 0.06 seconds behind Plymouth State's Athena Comeau.

The junior from Essex Junction, Vermont, is the second-ever member of Suffolk's women's indoor track & field to earn indoor regional honors joining Emily Manfra, who did so in 2020 in the mile. Walden's first all-region distinction marks the first Suffolk sprinter, male or female to collect an all-region accolade.
