Filloramo Takes GNAC Field & Rookie of the Week, Again

THE GNAC

WINTHROP, Mass. – For the second time this season, Caitlyn Filloramo of the Suffolk women's indoor track & field team garnered Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Field Athlete and Rookie of the Week, the conference office announced Monday.

The pair of accolades come after Filloramo, who hails from Southport, Connecticut, was the lone Suffolk female field student-athlete to compete at Wheaton's Pre-Post Season Invite. The freshman topped the 11-person weight throw field behind a 12.25-meter toss. She also participated in the shot put. She finished 15th with an 8.24-meter throw.

Filloramo now owns six weekly awards this season. She has been named the league's best field athlete of the week four times and the standout first-year performer twice. As a team, Suffolk owns eight of the conference's weekly awards this year with Filloramo responsible for six. Gwen Koziara and Julia Leavey own the other two as the pair were named the best rookie in a seven-day span Jan. 31 and Dec. 14, respectively.

Suffolk will now send its athletes who qualified to NCAA Division III New England this weekend, Feb. 25-26.
