Women’s Indoor Track & Field Competes at Wheaton’s Pre-Postseason Invite

BOSTON – Suffolk women's indoor track & field had a small contingent of Rams head to the Beard Fieldhouse Saturday for the Wheaton Pre-Postseason Invite.

Nine different Suffolk student-athletes represented the Rams in eight different events in the hopes to produce performance good enough to qualify for regionals, which are on tap Feb. 25-26 at Colby.

Sophomores Therese McKeagney and Jocelyn Triscik had standout showings as the sophomores both posted personal bests in their respective events. McKeagney raced to a 5:56.70 in the mile, good for 13th in the 26-runner field. Triscik, meanwhile, made two laps around the track for a 2:30.93 800 to take sixth in the two-dozen competitor field.

Catherine Madden and Shannon MacArthur rounded out the Rams' runners in the 60m hurdles and 200, respectively.

A trio wore the blue-and-gold in the jumping events. Lauren Wood stood out from the rest with a 4.78 leap in the long jump to take third overall. Catherine Brown made her collegiate debut in the high jump alongside Grace Danehy. The freshmen both cleared 1.41 meters.

Caitlyn Filloramo was the only Suffolk field athlete to participate Saturday. The Southport, Connecticut native won the weight throw. She topped the 11-person field with a 12.25-meter toss. In the shot put, she finished 15th behind an 8.24-meter throw.

Suffolk's student-athletes who qualified for New Englands will take their talents to Waterville, Maine next weekend for NCAA Division III regionals.
