WALTHAM, Mass. – Suffolk women's indoor track & field's Gwen Koziara was named the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) rookie of the week after competing in her first collegiate 3K at Boston University's John Thomas Terrier Classic, the conference announced on Monday.
Koziara's time of 10:50.54 was good for top in the GNAC, helping her lead the way in two races, as the freshman sits atop the conference ranking in the 5K as well.
This marks Koziara's first GNAC weekly award, and brings the team total up to four on the season. Previously, classmates Julia Leavey and Caitlyn Filloramo own weekly recognition as well. with weekly Leavey was chosen as Rookie of the Week Dec. 14, while Filloramo was tabbed the women's field athlete of the week twice in a three-week span and picked up a rookie of the week status as well last week.
Koziara and the Rams will return to the Boston University Track and Tennis Center this weekend for the Bruce Lehane Scarlet & White Invite on Saturday, Feb. 5
