Women’s Indoor Track & Field Takes Part in Joe Donahue Games

BOSTON – Suffolk women's indoor track & field took its talents to the Reggie Lewis Center over the weekend for Northeastern's Joe Donahue Games. Seven different Rams produced personal-bests in the event with eight different student-athletes in blue-and-gold participating in events for the first time in their careers.

Running wise, the Rams pair in the 60-meter dash both clocked career-high marks. Kamryn Reilly's 8.39 was good for fifth in the 16-runner field with Amanda Walden two spots behind her thanks to her time of 8.51.

In the 60-meter hurdles, Julia Leavey made the most out of her event debut as she finished the leaping sprint in 9.92, the first runner behind the event's winner Northeastern's Mariah Fede (9.57).

Half a dozen Rams ran a half lap around the track, four of which did so for the first time in their collegiate careers in Erika Penney (28.15), Jocelyn Triscik (30.17), Alyssa Rodriguez (30.52) and Emily Concepcion. Penney's showing was standout as she finished one spot behind Amanda Walden, who took fifth in the two-dozen field, behind a time of 28.00. Klaudia Rushi (29.61) ran the event as well and did so in personal-record setting fashion to claim 13th.

Rushi joined Triscik in the 400. Both sophomores sprinted the full lap around the track for the first time in their career and finished one after another. Triscik crossed the tape frist in 1:04.33 to take second overall with Rushi right on her heels in 1:07.67.

All three competitors in the high jump were from Suffokl. Grace Danehy won the event after clearing 1.50 meters. Julia Leavey was 0.05 meters behind that with Nicole DiBenedetto 0.05 meters under Leavey.

Lauren Wood rounded out the Rams jumpers in the long jump with a personal-best leap of 4.92.

In the shot put, Allison Rodrigues' fifth-place performance was the highest of a NCAA Division III competitor in the 12-participating field. She logged a 10.66-meter toss. Michelle Riley (8.82) and Gracie O'Connell (8.65) finished in the top 10 as well in eighth and ninth, respectively. Lydia Comprosky, meanwhile, took 11th with a 7.47-meter throw.

Caitlyn Filloramo shined in the weight throw. Her personal-best 13.37-meter toss put the freshman in third and was the highest showing from a NCAA D3 student-athlete in the event. Rodrigues, who partook in the event for the first time since the 2000 Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Championships, claimed fifth behind a throw of 11.66. Leah Doucot (11.00), O'Connell (9.16) and Comprosky (8.43) took spots seven through nine.

Suffolk will be well rested for its next event Plymouth State's Panther Invitational, which is on tap Saturday, Jan. 22.
