BOSTON – Suffolk women's tennis has a busy week with three matches over three days Sept. 26-28. The Rams get the week underway at Regis Tuesday, Sept. 26 at 4 p.m. before hosting Curry the following day, Wednesday, Sept. 27 at 6:30 p.m. The week wraps up at Bridgewater State Thursday, Sept. 28 at 3:30 p.m.

LAST TIME OUT
Suffolk women's tennis fell in its 2023 Commonwealth Coast Conference opener 9-0 to Gordon at the Brigham Athletic Complex.

RAMS RUNDOWN
Suffolk holds a 1-3 record on the year and 0-1 CCC ledger. The Rams look to snap a two-match skid in which they were swept at Rhode Island College and Gordon.  

Caren Urbano has played exclusively as the blue-and-gold's ace. She is 2-2 on the year. She also has been an ingredient to every top tandem this year. The twosome of Urbano and Rachel Hill are 1-2, while the pair of Urbano and Nia Bebb have combined forces once (0-1). 

PRIDE POINTS
Regis has traded wins and losses this season to sit at 2-2 on the year.  

Kiana Thompson is unbeaten, 2-0, as the Pride's ace this year. Stephanie Beatrice (0-1) and Samantha Gevry (0-1) have seen time in the first singles spot this season as well.  

Thompson has played every match as part of the top tandem; with Gevry, Thompson is 2-1 in doubles play. When playing with Beatrice, the twosome is 1-0.  

INSIDE THE SERIES

  • The Suffolk, Regis series began in 1997. 
  • The Rams and Pride renew a rivalry, meeting for the first time since 2019. 
  • Since 2005, the Rams are 5-5 against Regis. 
  • The Pride has won five in a row against the Rams, including the last meeting, cot. 18, 2019, via a 9-0 shutout.  

COLONELS CATCH UP
Curry has yet to find the win column this season as the Colonels sit 0-5 overall and 0-2 in CCC contests.

Sasha Borkov (2-2) has played every match on the top singles court. Grace Coopee holds the best singles record through four matches with a 3-1 ledger split between courts three (0-1) and four (3-0).  

In doubles play, the twosome of Borkov and Serena Wilson sport a 1-3 mark at No. 1, while Cayla Osowski and Cate Pierce are 1-0 when playing in the third spot together.   

INSIDE THE SERIES

  • Suffolk is 1-1 all-time against Curry.
  • The Rams defeated the Colonels 6-3 in the first-ever meeting Sept. 18, 2021. 
  • A year ago, Suffolk fell at Curry, 7-2, Oct. 15, 2022. 
  • As the home team, the Rams are unbeaten against the Colonels. 
  • Suffolk looks for its first win over Curry under Drew Goldstein's guidance.  

BEARS BREAKDOWN
Bridgewater State is 3-2 on the year and will face WestConn Tuesday before hosting Suffolk Thursday.  

Madeline Von Ruden is the only player to compete in the first singles slot through five matches. She is 1-4. Allison Carter and Meghan Lotti sport identical 3-2 marks from the third and fifth positions, respectively.  

The Bears second and third doubles tems are each 4-1. Carter and Lotti have teamed up as the second spot squad, while Samantha Bettencourt and Yasmine Queen have played every match on the third doubles court. 

INSIDE THE SERIES

  • Since 2009, Suffolk trails the all-time series with Bridgewater State, 1-12. 
  • Suffolk looks to snap a five-match skid versus the Bers. 
  • The Rams lone win over BSU came in a 5-4 thriller Sept. 3, 2015. 
  • In the last five meetings, Bridgewater State has outscored Suffolk, 43-11. 
  • A year ago, Bridgewater State swept Suffolk Sept. 8, 2022. 

SUFFOLK'S SCHEDULE
