Women’s Tennis Stopped by Simmons in Season Opener, 6-3

BRIGHTON, Mass. – Suffolk women's tennis fell to Simmons, 6-3, in its first game of the 2022 season at Daly Field.

THE BASICS
SCORE: Suffolk 3 | Simmons 6
RECORDS: Suffolk (0-1) | Simmons (3-1)

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Rams and Sharks split doubles action on the top two courts and a walk-off win for Simmons in the third spot gave the host a 2-1 advantage as the match headed to singles.

Caren Urbano and Rachel Hill partnered for a thrilling 8-7 (6-0) win as the blue-and-gold's top tandem to put Suffolk on the board.

In singles, Simmons scored first with a win in the second spot before Hill came back to defeat Julia Perconti, 0-6, 7-5, 10-3. That decision brought Suffolk back within one, 3-2.

Avery Salloran sealed the win for the Sharks, but that did not stop Urbano from taking down Camargo, 6-4, 7-6, 10-7, in the first position.

Suffolk gave decisions to Simmons at No. 5 and 6, respectively, for the 6-3 final.
