ITA Rewards Women’s Tennis, Five Rams for Academics

TEMPE, Ariz. – Suffolk women's tennis was acknowledged for its academic accomplishments as the team received Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) All-Academic Distinction in addition to five Rams – Ilda AscicAlyssa BladeBarbara ConsalesDyani Mosquera and Bianca Prescott – received ITA Scholar-Athlete distinction, the national organization announced.  

To qualify as an ITA All-Academic Team, a student-athlete must maintain a cumulative team grade point average of 3.2 or above on a 4.0 scale, with each eligible player average account for in the calculation.   

As a unit, the blue-and-gold posted a 3.465 GPA over 2021-22. The Rams were one of four Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) institutions recognized alongside Endicott, Nichols and Roger Williams, who were apart of the 125 programs to be award the recognition. Individually, the five some of Ascic, Blade, Consales, Mosquera and Prescott achieved the requirements of a 3.5 grade point average over the academic year to take home the feat. Ascic, Consales and Prescott earned the accomplishment for the third time in their careers, while Blade and Mosquera were first-time honorees.

The group five of the 29 CCC student-athletes to pick up the feat this year. Nichols had the most honorees with 10, followed by eight from Endicott and a half dozen from Roger Williams. Overall, 940 NCAA Division III female student-athletes were recognized with the award in 2021-22. For a full list, click here

Suffolk's five selections tie the most in program history and mark the first time since 2018-19 that five Rams garnered the nod. Overall, 14 Rams have accounted for 26 ITA Scholar-Athlete achievements in the program's history with the first such awards coming in 2014-15.
