BELMONT, Mass. – Suffolk women's tennis concluded its 2021 regular-season with a 7-2 setback to Gordon at Belmont Hill Saturday. Prior to the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) match the Rams honored the playing careers of its four graduating players seniors Ilda Ascic, Giuliana Claus, and Kendall Smith, and graduate student Sarah Mezini.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The team's traded points by identical 8-3 decisions in doubles play. Gordon picked up the first point after Madison West and Kristen Kendall downed Suffolk's Kendall Smith and Barbara Consales in the second slot, before Alyssa Blade and Bianca Prescott bested Abigail Fournier and Stephanie Trolica on the third court to seven the score. 

The Rams' top tandem of Ilda Ascic and Sarah Mezini slipped in Jordan Maddex and Annette Kim, 8-6, to give the Fighting Scots a 2-1 edge as the match transitioned into singles play. 

Gordon quickly sealed the deal with wins in the first three singles and went on to capture courts four and five, respectively, for a 7-1 advantage. 

With the setback already decided, Dyani Mosquera defeated Trolica, 6-2, 6-1, in the sixth spot, for the final 7-2 margin.
